Technology Support Network Engineer

Job Description

An operational support role whose responsibility spans the deployment and support for our Customer, Management Infrastructure and Shared Managed Hosting solutions. They will work with key stakeholders to ensure implementation of technical release packages and changes to a high standard and provide the right technical skills to enable the technical analysis and timely resolution for any service issues within agreed Service Level Agreements. The Network engineer will ensure that the complexities of the management/shared infrastructure are understood, and provide support to further enhance stability, making changes to the infrastructure using agreed business processes and best practice. They will be expected to work in a 24/7 operational team.

Key accountabilities and decision ownership

  • Ensure that all Network devices and solutions are implemented according to the agreed quality SLAs and KPIs.
  • Ensure releases are implemented right first time and tested according to incident prevention best practice LWI’s.
  • Define and embed consistent operational processes to support on-going support activities, driving improvements.
  • Delivery of 2nd line technical support during core hours or in a 24/7 shift working pattern for managed and cloud Network devices.
  • Support incident resolution matrix teams to restore service in complex cross-technology environments and root cause analysis.
  • Planning, assessment and implementation of change requests.

Core competencies, knowledge and experience

  • Exposure to network technologies.
  • IT Operations experience (min 2 years).
  • Experience of supporting enterprise scale, complex managed hosting or cloud solutions.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and influence their decision making.
  • Demonstrable track record in identifying, driving and implementing continuous improvements.

Must have technical/professional qualifications:

  • Demonstrate practical skill in specific technical areas to achieve the role accountabilities at a high level of proficiency with following technologies:
    • Cisco ASA – Single/Multi Contexts
    • Checkpoint Firewalls
    • Cisco Switching & Routing – Catalyst/Nexus
    • Dynamic Routing protocols – BGP/OSPF
    • F5 LTM/GTM – Load Balancing
    • Bluecoat proxies
    • Arcsight ESM/Collector/Logger
    • Cisco ISE – TACACS
    • Tufin - SecureTrack
    • Solarwinds
    • Checkpoint MDM
    • Wireshark/TCP Dump
  • Diploma Level qualifications in Computer Engineering/Science or equivalent
  • Good understanding of ITIL principles and their application
  • Professional industry recognised accreditations in relevant technologies.

Ability to achieve SC clearance.​
