Due to organisational growth, we are seeking an experienced Systems Support Engineer to join our national Service Desk. The System Operations engineers provide 2nd Level support for Systems related incidents and to assist our phone support team during busy periods for our growing client base. You may also need to provide generalised IT support including phone, email and remote support for Desktop, Server, Networking, Voice, Citrix and Cloud based infrastructure.

Our Service Desk provides support to national and global clients on a 24X7 basis. Whilst we have a 'follow the sun' model, you must be available to work rotating shifts including weekends and public holidays, and potentially night-shift if required.

Requirements

Great communication skills over the phone and the ability to show empathy for your end users, are essential for this role.

You will be handling all sorts of general IT issues, including taking incoming phone calls, however for systems related issues you would be the escalation point for the team. You would also act as a subject matter expert to provide skills transfer. (Can you pretty this part up?)

Although we don't expect you to be an expert in everything listed below, we do expect you to have some experience supporting:

  • Microsoft Windows desktop operating system.
  • Microsoft Windows Server operating system.
  • Citrix XenApp and Microsoft Remote Desktop Services.
  • Exchange Server 2003 through to 2013.
  • Office 365.
  • Microsoft Active Directory.
  • Commercial backup solutions.
  • Virtualisation technologies (Citrix/VMWare).
  • LAN/WAN communications/configuration and troubleshooting.
  • An ability to demonstrate initiative and attention to detail.
  • A positive friendly attitude displaying both empathy and integrity.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • At least one industry certification such as Microsoft, Citrix, Cisco or similar.
  • ITIL experience and/or certification.
