SPUD.CA is looking for a full-time, permanent Sr. Produce Operations Manager. This position is based out of 105 5566 Trapp Avenue Burnaby, BC.


The Sr. Produce Operations Manager oversees all operational aspects of produce at our SPUD warehouses in Alberta and British Columbia. They align SOPs, processes, training and teams across all SPUD warehouses and oversee operational produce implementation for FoodX partners/customers. They also assist in setting up new warehouses, motivate and develop all produce team members.

  • Work in conjunction with site operations leaders to oversee one Produce Manager and indirectly support additional operational produce management and team leads. This includes assisting in hiring, training, reviews and performance management.
  • Document, create and standardize produce processes and best practices across all SPUD warehouses.
  • Work closely with operations leaders to ensure unity and “One Team” mentality at all sites.
  • Work with Health and Safety Co-ordinator to ensure all health, work safety and food safety standards are followed at all sites.
  • Continuously strive to improve the quality of produce SPUD’s customers are recieving.
  • Liaise with senior leaders to acquire permits, licenses and resources where needed.
  • Minimize shorts, subs, errors and quality complaints through education and communication to operations teams.
  • Review and standardize all produce training materials and standard operating procedures.
  • Assist in setting up new SPUD sites as well as sites for FoodX customers.
  • Implement and oversee the introduction of D365 software to produce operations teams.
  • Regularly visit all sites to coach teams and work with site leaders on continuously improving produce operations.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Produce Director or Purchasing Manager.

  • Minimum of a high-school education. Post-secondary education (or similar work experience) an asset.
  • 1-3 Years experience in a senior management role, preferably overseeing teams at multiple sites.
  • 5 Years experience working with produce, either in a service, retail, or production role, and strong understanding of food safety and quality control processes.
  • Extensive knowledge of produce quality, seasonality and supply chains.
  • Experience in inventory management.
  • Proven ability to problem-solve and think creatively to complete assigned tasks. Desire to improve processes daily.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Experience working with inventory management software.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to perform physical work (Lifting up to 50lbs) and stand for long periods of time.
  • Extreme attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, strong interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in liaising with multiple departments and business entities.
  • Ability to travel for work within Canada and internationally as needed.
