About the role

We are currently seeking an experienced Patents Secretary to work within our growing Intellectual Property team based in our Melbourne office.  Working with the patents team, this role provides a fantastic opportunity to get fully involved with the practice working on interesting matters, managing crucial team administration, handling client queries and managing the monthly billing process.

What does the role involve?

  • Diary management
  • Administrative support to Partners and fee earners
  • Managing confidential firm information and opening new matters
  • Typing technical patent specifications and related technical patent documents
  • Filing of patent applications and documents
  • Input and maintain client data into client relationship software (Interaction)
  • Patent portfolio reporting
  • Managing the monthly billing process

The ideal candidate will have prior experience in patent or intellectual property administration.

To be successful in this role you will ideally have experience working in a medium to large sized law firm within a patent or intellectual property practice area, be highly organised and possess exemplary attention to detail  You should be able to work efficiently and use your initiative, as well as being proactive in your approach to tasks.

Strong Microsoft Office skills are essential, as are excellent communication skills. You will be capable of using automated billing systems and client relationship management software (Elite and InterAction preferred).
