Your new role

This position is a non-BAU role designed to measure, analyse, and explain the impacts of investment decision making on the performance of AustralianSuper investment options. There is flexibility towards a senior analyst or a level higher depending on relevant experience. You will also be a key resource for additional asset class reporting, focusing on performance and attribution outcomes, along with enhanced reporting for Senior Management.

This role will continue to improve on existing business as usual practices, provide support for other team members, enhance existing attribution models and work on ad hoc challenges as they arise. Giving you the opportunity to try something different and think outside of the box.

Good rapport building skills will be critical in this position as you will work with various stakeholders across the fund including investments and personnel working in various projects. Being able to communicate various technical aspects in terms that others will easily understand is key to the success of this role.

Duties may include but are not limited to:

• Work closely with Investments teams to ensure the investment strategies are measured consistently with how they are implemented.
• Calculate and analyse monthly performance attribution
• Present drivers of performance to Front Office along with delivering periodic and ad hoc reporting and insights to Front Office, Senior Management, the Investment Committee, and the Board.
• Assist in the development and updating of the Performance Attribution system (Ortec PEARL) to meet the attribution requirements of multiple stakeholders.
• Review and monitor monthly performance returns for investment options, asset classes and investment managers, to ensure accuracy of calculations.
• Liaise with the Front Office, data providers and/or other service providers to resolve issues concerning attribution reporting or other fund information.

What you’ll need

• Tertiary qualifications in Business, Commerce, Finance, Mathematics and / or related Industry discipline. Ideally undertaking or have completed postgraduate or professional qualification.
• Understanding of coding language ie Python or SQL is highly desired.
• Solid understanding of attribution methodologies and investment strategies along with building and/or implementing bespoke attribution models.
• Experience with at least one of the following: multi-asset class attribution, currency attribution, overlay attribution, or fixed income attribution.
• Exposure to working with front office staff to understand how portfolios are managed/implemented.
