Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Senior Laboratory Planner, we'll count on you to:

• Plan and design laboratories, vivarium, manufacturing and medical areas

• Translate client needs into functional technical spaces, and determine space demand and capacity

• Independently collect data, analyze the project goals and objectives, and organize to assist other disciplines involved in the design process

• Evaluate specific types of lab equipment, cabinetry and casework, and aid clients in selecting casework and equipment for their individual laboratory environments

• Prepare program statements, planning documents, contract documents and specifications for technical projects while ensuring compatibility with drawings and technical conditions

• Write technical specifications in compliance with acceptable standards and existing laws, rules and regulations

• Recommend specifications requirements and content, and oversee the production of completed documents and specifications

• Act as a mentor for other lab planning staff

• Perform other duties as needed




Required Qualifications

• 10+ years applicable lab planning experience

• Strong computer skills in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office

• Knowledgeable of FDA cGMP/cGLP requirements, AAALAC guidelines, NIH guidelines, various lab planning approaches and general equipment types and requirements

• Has in-depth understanding of FDA criteria for cGMP and cGLP manufacturing and laboratory space

• Must have excellent interpersonal communication, client service and analytical skills

• Scientific background

• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture preferred but not required.

• Experience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEED desired but not required
