The Plant Manager will be a key member of the management team and assist in the organization’s vision and growth strategies and will execute business and operations plans to achieve performance targets. The Plant Manager will have budget responsibility and provide the leadership, direction, and management for all aspects of the plant's operations.

The Plant Manager will direct the activities of direct reports in EHS, production, quality, maintenance & engineering, etc. to achieve specified business performance goals.

Responsibilities

The Plant Manager will be a central figure in the manufacturing activities of the facility and will formulate and guide the vision and operations strategy for the site. He/She will develop the facilities Site Plan and will work closely with Greater China team on key customer issues, capacity, service levels, cost, and quality matters. The Plant Manager will also need to stay abreast of new product & technology introductions and ensure that the ongoing scale up of multiple new products are aligned with new manufacturing platforms.

The Plant Manager will establish goals and budgets for all operating departments and monitor overall performance against annual plans. The preferred candidate also will work with the management team to ensure that the facility achieves the highest possible level of return on assets and investment and investigate opportunities to achieve synergy.

The Plant Manager will represent the company on key environmental and safety issues and will keep the local community informed on all compliance efforts while maintaining strong community ties. He/She will elevate safety awareness through communication, people development, establishing sound policies and practices, and being committed to an injury-free workforce.

Specifically, he/she must:

  • Establish an effective operation strategy, production goals and annual budget to meet customer expectations and financial commitments.
  • Drive and promote performance improvement through manufacturing excellence
  • Plan, create and implement technology improvement programs which create competitive advantage in manufacturing
  • Ensure manufacturing capabilities meet or exceed requirements for safety, quality, delivery, inventory and cost
  • Oversee the use of goals, performance measurement and clear and effective metrics and targets for all operations and facilities
  • Partner with Process Technology team to assess current processes and identify process improvement opportunities
  • Support new product & technology launch initiatives and collaborate with the GC engineering group to secure capital funding for growth initiatives
  • Host customer visits and represent the company to external associations and the local authorities
  • Demonstrate self-motivation and other required skills such as being pro-active and timely resolution of business issues
  • Retain and build a high performing team, as well as define staffing plans for employees

The Plant Manager will bring a strong background in operational leadership and experience leading manufacturing. The Plant Manager will be an experienced leader with at least 5 years of related experience in a batch chemical manufacturing environment. A strong background in EHS, continuous improvement, process engineering and manufacturing is required.

Specifically, the successful candidate should have:

  • Operations leadership experience in a batch manufacturing plant of similar size and scale
  • Track record implementing continuous improvement initiatives
  • Strong business acumen with an in-depth understanding of the financial implications of operational strategies
  • Prior experience and leadership success driving change in culture
  • Demonstrated track record in operations management, production, and strategic drivers
  • The ability to stay focused on initiatives and meet defined goals within the required timeframe by managing priorities and resources
  • New Plant start up experience is nice to have

Education/Other

A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related is required.
