We are looking for a Principal Consultant with Cloud Expertise to enable our Sales teams and Account Executives. This is not a traditional pre-sales or technical account management position. Earning the coveted “Trusted Advisor” relationship with customers is the goal. This is an associate director to full director level position.
Applicants should be an experienced technology consultant with helping businesses transform their IT approach utilizing public, private and hybrid cloud services.
The Principal Consultant bridges the gap between business and technology –speaking the language of business and technology to VP and C-level individuals. They combine a deep understanding of technology, applications, industry best practices, business processes and architectural patterns to drive IT and digital transformation initiatives. These solutions meet the business and technology objectives of our customers as more of a partnership then a sale. SoftServe does not RESELL any public cloud as such, provides a truly uninfluenced solution.
Ideal Candidates are experienced professionals who possess deep experience with technology transformations utilizing cloud solutions. Candidates partner with Sales and Account Executives to create the right solution.
The Principal Consultant should expect to be named to a particular customer or very small number of customers (1-3). At times, they will be asked to be responsible for a portion of a large and complex Enterprise Sales pursuit as a solution lead.
Partner with account teams and account leadership contributing technical cloud subject matter expertise at a consultant/advisor level.
Meet with, cooperate with, and coordinate prospective and existing enterprise clients to gain an understanding of their business strategy, objectives, transformation initiatives in progress, business requirements, and technology infrastructure; propose solutions aligned with their strategy.
Contribute and ideate in large, ambiguous enterprise technical and business projects.
Lead and execute with a cloud-first mindset
Drive technology and architectural assessments
Facilitate sales and pursuits in a consultative solution selling approach enabling SoftServe’s client services
Exercise creativity, independent judgment and business acumen in selecting methods and techniques to design non-routine and complex business solutions to meet customer needs.
Interact with all roles at customer – including CIO, CTO, IT Architects, technical staff and Business representatives
Lead detailed discovery analysis
Facilitate repeatable strategy, architecture, roadmap and planning workshops
Identify and evangelize key business and technology benefits of adoption.
Advise on organizational impact of solutions
Remain fully aware of relevant architectural trends, best practices, and tools.
Maintain a professional, authoritative presence in client settings at all levels in the business.
Be truly consultative: comprehensive in analysis, thorough in presentation, and confident in taking a position.
Able to synthesize complex technical concepts into non-technical business value.
Be as comfortable and conversant in business conversations as in technical conversations.
Act as the customer’s advocate to drive the solution vision with product owners and managers to ensure the deliverables are aligned with client expectations.
Demonstrate exceptional business acumen to understand formal and informal organizational structures, assess risk, understand and contribute to strategy formulation, structure KPI’s and OKR’s, and identify ways to improve business processes and operations.
Participate in product and delivery team projects as key advisor and client advocate to ensure alignment of digital solutions to business strategy.
Collaborate with multiple disciplines and departments, including technical SMEs and executive leadership, both within clients and SoftServe.
Drive and lead SoftServe’s multidisciplinary team at each stage of customer engagement.
Promote SoftServe’s leadership within the industry
Prepare and deliver presentations, demonstrations, and discuss case studies with industry audiences, analysts, partners, and industry press to strengthen our company brand and demonstrate our capabilities.
Be perpetually curious with new and emerging technologies and able to quickly recognize business opportunities for them.
Aid in the research and development of new services, products, and markets for SoftServe.
Prepare unique thought leadership content establishing vision and strategy aligned with vertical and industry initiatives pursued by SoftServe.
Partner with marketing and sales to create collateral that supports specific vertical and industry initiatives.

Job Related Experience
10+ years of relevant technology work experience
5+ years prior technical, product management roles
2+ years in IT or management consulting to middle-market and enterprises, especially implementing complex solutions and systems
Prior Experience as technical team manager or team lead
Participated in B2B sales deals in technical presales roles
0 immediate until est 2021 but eventual travel at 25% to client and partner sites, incremental for internal meetings as needed; some international.
Work from home until 2021 with eventual mix of in-office and work from home, depending on residence.
Extensive background including architecture, implementation, and delivery of large-scale systems in real-world situations
Cloud Architecture Development, Deployment and Migration
Ability to walk up the cloud stack (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) model with modern terminology and relevance.
Broad knowledge of IT market and trends
Knowledge of Cloud providers (AWS, GCP or Azure) and surrounding tools (Pivotal Cloud Foundry, Kubernetes, Docker, Apigee, Mulesoft, etc.)
Detailed knowledge of architectural approaches including consolidation, cloud computing, virtualization, information management, Big Data, AI, Machine Learning, etc.
C-level presentation experience
Willingness to travel 30% (please note: domestic AND international travel will be required) to client and team locations
