Our Environmental consulting group have a strong position in a number or market sectors both in the UK and globally. The range of services provided includes: the assessment and remediation of contaminated land, decommissioning and demolition management, water resource assessment, environmental, social and health impact assessments (ESHIA), integrated water management, geotechnical engineering, geomatics and other related services. 

This vacancy is for a Principal Consultant to work on brownfield assessment and remediation projects based in our Leeds Office.  This is a full time, permanent position and will be part of our Restoration and Decommissioning practice.  The successful applicant will work with our clients bringing technical know-how to the successful delivery of projects whilst working closely with the existing Technical Director in Leeds and our other main offices in Bristol and London.

Depending on candidate suitability and preferences there is also scope to undertake project work both in the UK and overseas. 

Core responsibilities:

  • Management and delivery of contaminated land assessment and remediation projects including: delivery of desk studies, site investigation, risk assessments, remediation options appraisals, remedial design and verification.

  • Data management: review and interpretation.

  • Delivery of detailed quantitative risk assessments including controlled waters and/or human health.

  • Ensuring high technical quality across the project team.

  • Business development and winning work (with support) including prospect identification and proposal generation.

  • Line manage, mentor and train junior staff.

  • Liaise with and support key clients.

  • Embrace the HSSE culture of a project, both client-facing and internally; and,

  • Compliance with Health and Safety policies and procedures.

Skills and Essential Experience Required:
The following skills and experience will be required:
  • Experience of contaminated land assessment and remediation of sites in the UK.
  • Business development and client management skills.
  • Strong experience in presenting, analysing and interpreting data.
  • Post graduate qualifications in a relevant subject (e.g. Hydrogeology, Geochemistry, Geology or Environmental Science).
  • Evidence of continuing professional development, including Chartership desirable (or working towards this).
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with clients, colleagues and contractors.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to write clear, concise reports and think logically and clearly.
  • Demonstrable project and contract management experience.
  • Familiarity and experienced with several forms of contract including NEC3 desirable.
