In this endeavor, we are seeking to recruit new talent for the comprehensive analyses of high-dimensional datasets using state-of-the-art data science methods applied to drug discovery programs. This team lead position will be opened on the Beerse campus, which is the flagship R&D center for small molecules within Janssen, investing over 1 billion euros each year in R&D. The Position The position frames in the ongoing virtualization of parts of the research process. The successful candidate will coordinate a team of multiple PhD level data scientists to improve the integration of a chemical data (activities and chemical reactions) via Deep Learning Transformers into R&D processes to reach business impact and drive scientific innovation. Such data is integrated from multiple internal and external data sources for enabling multiple strategic initiatives and collaboration projects. This position will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and collaboration partners for enabling such an analytics platform. Having a deep passion of understanding and shaping the vision of data analytics/AI is critical for driving the business integration and science in this area. A close collaboration with chemistry capability teams is critical for ensuring a business-driven improvement of a design-make-test cycle. A reduction of synthesis cycle-times, improving the quality of chemical reactivity estimates, as well as creating target-product-profile oriented libraries are a key goal (compound sets, not singletons, enriching SAR for exploration via active learning and driving goal-orientation for exploitation bound by confidence). Moreover, the candidate will organize the translation of these predictive capabilities into concrete and actionable recommendations for medicinal chemists in support of the small molecule project portfolio from hit series identification to lead optimization. The goal is the selection and design of small molecules and molecule series to make and test for creating better and safer drugs for patients with unmet medical needs. The successful candidates will be responsible for Overseeing the generative analytics/AI platform enabling a strategic landscape integration Ensure a close collaboration with chemistry capability teams ensuring a business impact-driven decision-making process Coordinating multiple internal and external science and technology initiatives supporting the integrative vision and win-win scenarios for multiple partners. Coordinating a synthesis-driven generative AI and analytics process ensuring short cycle-times and target-product-profile oriented libraries (compound sets, not singletons, enriching SAR for exploration via active learning and driving goal-orientation for exploitation bound by confidence).
