In an international team, Jabil Optics Germany develops innovative customized opto-electronics modules for new generation products in Consumer Lifestyle, Automotive and Industrial.

For our R&D location in Jena, Germany, we are seeking a

Principal Optical Designer (m/f/d)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Creating optical designs for complex optoelectronic systems

• Design for manufacture and design for costs

• Development of optical basic concepts for customer quotations and cost calculation

• Close cooperation with the (global) engineering teams and support of the project manager and system architect in conception phase

• Assistance in production process, assembly and measurement

• Exploring new application and technology fields: analysis of the state-of-the-art/ involvement in trade fairs and congresses around the world/ networking with research institutes and partners

• Technical guidance of the optical design team and development of new methodologies for physical simulation and design

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• Master's degree in optical engineering or equivalent

• +5 years’ experience in creating complex optical system design in industrial environment

• Expert in one simulation software (ZEMAX, CodeV)

• Solid fundamental knowledge of methods such as tolerance and reflex calculation, simulation, light technology, temperature analysis, creation of data sheets

• Tool/ software programming (ZEMAX, CodeV)

• Expert knowledge in optical math’s calculation

• Self-organized and analytical work culture

• Expert business and technical English proficiency

• Willingness to travel world-wide (about 10%)
