Electrode Process Development Engineer Santa Clara, CA / Technology / Scale-Up / Full Time Natron is seeking an Electrode Process Development Engineer to lead and support development of new and existing electrode manufacturing processes. This position will work closely with the Operations and R&D teams to conceptualize, implement, and continuously improve processes related to electrode manufacturing. A key function of this role will be translating lab and pilot scale processes to safe and efficient pilot scale manufacturing processes. The candidate must be a strong communicator and work well with a diverse team to understand and solve complex problems. He or she has a strong sense of initiative and takes ownership of projects and process work without direct supervision. It is preferred that the candidate has prior experience with battery slurry mixing, electrode coating, and calendering processes. Prior experience in manufacturing scale-up activities and contract-manufacturer relationships is also highly valued. Responsibilities + Develop, validate, and document pilot-scale electrode manufacturing processes, potentially including: Slurry material handling & mixing, Electrode coating, and Electrode slitting & calendering + Support production team and drive continuous improvement in electrode manufacturing processes. + Create and maintain process documentation such as process specifications, control plans, PFMEAs, SOPs, etc. + Use statistical methods to analyze process performance and identify potential for further improvement. + Plan and execute DOEs to better understand and optimize process conditions. + Collaborate with R&D and adjacent Operations teams to understand their process and product needs, as they relate to electrode manufacturing. + Support process scale-up activities with internal and external manufacturing partners. + May include occasional travel + Clearly document and communicate activities and progress to other teams within the organization. Experience and Skills: + Required: Bachelor’s of Science degree in chemical or mechanical engineering, materials science, applied physics, or related fields. + Required: 3+ years’ experience as a process engineer, manufacturing engineer, or similar industrial role. + Prior experience processing battery electrodes (slurry mixing, slot-die coating, calendering, etc.) is highly desirable. + Proficient with Microsoft Office and familiar with databases. + Prior experience preparing documentation and training team members to execute qualified processes. Logistics: + This is a full time, permanent position. + Employees must work on site in Santa Clara. + Occasional travel may be required (<10%) Natron Energy is the future of industrial power.
