IPS is hiring! We are looking for a talented Process Engineer to join our industry leading Process Engineering team at our office in Basel, Switzerland.
The process engineer position will report to the process team lead or office director and will work with and support the process engineering design for all types of projects and project phases. The assignments contain specific tasks on project teams and the applicant is expected to use their education, innovative spirit and common sense to resolve the engineering problems and tasks they are assigned.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Prepares process design documents and deliverables for all phases of projects including Conceptual Designs, Basis of Design and Detailed Design.
Uses computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents.
Creates and modifies reports, specifications and drawings construction schedules to scope of the project as directed by the Lead Engineer.
Makes calculations, using engineering formulas and skills for process design.
Creates specialized drawings such as PFD’s, MFD’s and P&ID’s. Generate Process P&IDs (AutoCAD or similar) that include controls strategy and CIP/SIP functions, if appropriate. Also, generate P&IDs for critical utility systems, such as WFI, Purified water and Clean Steam as directed by the Lead Engineer.
Selects equipment based on recommendations of Lead Process Engineer and generates equipment lists and schedules.
Provides drawing for own designs and produces sketches to incorporate into drawings by drafters.
Researches design options and document findings for Lead Process Engineer.
Keeps Lead Engineer informed of work load and any changes in project scope or additional services. Provides information to Lead Engineer for incorporation into specifications.
Designs in accordance with cGMP process guidelines for pharmaceutical facilities.
Organizes and maintains project files. Maintains a neat and organized work area which allows efficient access to information required by other team members.
Assures that drawings and designs are in accordance with company production and design standards.
Travelling to a certain extent must be expected depending on the customer location and project phase. The project can be executed either at the IPS Basel office, or directly at the Customer site.
Special projects as assigned.
0-2 years engineering experience preferably in the Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology industries.
Master of Engineering/Science or Diploma Degree in (Bio-) Process Engineering
Preferably experience in a variety of (bio-)pharmaceutical projects.
Knowledge of cGMP regulations as they affect process design and equipment specification.
Experience in computer operation for engineering design programs (e.g. SchedulePro) and computer aided drafting (preferably AutoCAD / Siemens Comos)
Ability to interface with other disciplines on a project where required.
Speaks German (min. C1) and English fluently (min. B2).
French language would be a benefit.
