Finance & Business Management’s goals are to ensure sound control environments and provide financial advice to support the business strategy. Within F&BM, the Controllers organization is responsible for ensuring the overall integrity and validity of the financial statements and controls over the transaction cycle; performing critical reporting functions for the organization, both financial and regulatory, as well as ensuring execution and implementation of the overall financial architecture.
This role is responsible for leading the Asia Pacific GIB function covering Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A), Debt Capital Markets (DCM), Equity Capital Markets (ECM). As a product controller you will be responsible for the overall integrity and accuracy of the financial statements along with the overall governance of the transaction control cycle and assist the business in identifying and achieving its objectives.
This role provides a great opportunity for a highly motivated individual to gain an understanding of the GIB products and become a valued partner to the various Finance Teams, while building partnerships with business leaders as well as Corporate and CIB Central Finance Teams. The successful candidate will have strong accounting, communication, managerial and teamwork skills which will be critical to developing strong partnerships across multiple functions and regions.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
The Manager role will have responsibility for all aspects of APAC GIB Finance and APAC Billing, including:
Managing a team of 6 controllers requiring an experienced manager who can assist with prioritization and direction as well as training, development, empowering, motivating and coaching of team members. The role will report to the global product controller and will become part of the GIB and Wholesale Payments Product Control management team.
The role will also have accountability to the EMEA GIB product controller to provide additional support
Strong partnership with the APAC GIB business and wider functions (Business Management, Middle Office, Technology, Front Office and Financial Control etc.) providing effective support and control oversight to help maintain a strong control environment and facilitate business growth.
Key responsibilities include management of daily P&L and risk reporting, month end close, analysis of revenue drivers, balance sheet movements and linkage of business activity to full financial results, management of the regional billing controller team and expense recovery reporting.
Further responsibilities include providing accounting guidance to the business, managing impacts to product control of legal entity and regulatory changes and Volcker Reporting.
Challenge existing control operating model and identification of control issues/risks resulting in increased efficiency and implementation of effective control processes.
Opportunity to lead select global initiatives and manage APAC GIB and finance related projects including the technology book of work ensuring regional involvement in global initiatives. e.g. enhancements to global systems and processes such as GL enhancement and roll out, Aqueduct, Aggregator and Client Billing System enhancements
Manage Internal Audit and/or Risk driven product reviews and products deep dives for the region. Also a key participant in new product approvals (NBIA’s) from a finance control perspective.
Ensure rigorous compliance with control policies, standards and procedures – e.g. P&L and Risk minimum standards compliance (Risk & P&L sign-off and comprehensive P&L explain), Product Control accountability standards, Income attribution (GMRA) and SAPCo (GMSA) compliance and Volcker compliance.

Qualified accountant with minimum 8+ years’ experience with strong accounting and control background with proven ability to manage people.
Experience with Investment Banking products including sound commercial acumen and financial services industry awareness and product knowledge across a number of asset classes.
Proven skills and results in identifying and resolving control and risk management issues that may impact financial results.
Candidate must be a confident communicator who can successfully work with senior partners / stakeholders and works well under pressure.
Strong control mindset, with an attention to detail who can challenge the status quo, set the agenda, generates ideas and solutions to problems, embraces change and drives it through to completion
Ability to influence and direct the activities of resources outside of direct control
