About this opportunity
We are looking for a Product Development Manager to lead, motivate, coach and develop a team of product developers. It will be your responsibility to maintain and deliver world-class performance across safety, quality, service and cost, and to ensure your team do the same. You will work with our customers at the forefront of your mind – understanding their needs, and creating value for both us and them. Critical to your success in this role will be your ability and eagerness to manage change for continuous improvement across the product Development and supply business unit.
What will you be responsible for?

  • Leading a team of seven direct reports. Comprising of 6 technologists (3 liquid technologists and 3 packaging technologists) and 1 process engineer.
  • Commercialisation of new liquids and packaging designs from concept to launch.
  • Proactive stakeholder engagement, internally and externally.  
  • Leading and facilitating a weekly NPD trial meeting to track trials and support for first production runs. 
  • Brand Value Engineering – driving simplification and materials cost savings in our Supply Chain.
  • Delivering the cost centre within budget.
  • Team development - capabilities through supplier internal and external engagement.
  • Team development on their growth on capabilities, behaviours and functional leadership of the Liquid & Packaging team.
  • Leading the upkeep and maintenance of liquid and packaging standard operating procedures.
  • Leading the maintenance and ongoing improvements of specification data systems for liquid and packaging teams.

    What you’ll bring to the table:
    • Minimum Bachelor Degree educated (science related – food science or packaging a must)
    • +5 year’s broad experience in R&D, Technical Product Development in an FMCG environment (beverages preferred)
    • Proven functional ability in product development covering both areas on liquid/food and packaging development.
    • Sound commercial awareness and understanding between risk and reward.
    • Excellent knowledge of portfolio and project management processes and practices.
    • Leadership skills that build and maintain effective cross-functional relationships, with the ability to influence and drive change to deliver results.
    • Experienced with leading and motivating high performance teams with proven track record on change management and building strong teams.
    • Proven track record of delivery in process development and change management in challenging business environments.
    • Excellent communication, conflict resolution skills, with an ability to engage and influence a wide range of internal and external stakeholders at all levels
