The role:

The Professional Services Systems Engineer will help design, build, and support the systems infrastructure for Edge Technology Group, as well as the infrastructures of our multiple financial clients - and will be integral to our firm’s ongoing success.  The appropriate candidate will fully utilize their demonstrated skills in designing, building and optimizing complex, state of the art systems, and applications to support our clients’ mission-critical business needs.  The Professional Services Systems Engineer will be a significant contributor to the design, implementation of our in-house and client systems infrastructure.  He or she will be primarily responsible for ensuring the proper day-to-day operations of clients’ infrastructures across a number of locations. 

Responsibility & Objectives:

  • Design, install, and support multiple client systems infrastructures
  • Provide expert knowledge and command of industry best practices, including fault-tolerant design, as well as security and performance optimization, for mission critical implementations.
  • Analyze overall client system requirements.  Ensure exceptional security, stability and effective integration with clients' applications and infrastructures
  • Provide strong working knowledge of vendor market, product families and selection criteria, especially in regards to systems virtualization and shared storage technologies.
  • On-site installation, configuration and testing of systems infrastructure equipment for client site network moves, adds, or changes.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time and exceed business expectations.
  • Identify and inform project management of add-ons and items outside the Scope of Work, as it pertaining to current projects.
  • Provide specialist knowledge in the development proposals for client projects.
  • Leverage existing and emerging technologies to develop solutions to improve the performance of multiple client infrastructures.
  • Function as a technical escalation point and provide Level 3 support for systems related issues and requests.
  • Ensure service tickets are closed on time and with high customer satisfaction.
  • Responsible for the creation and maintenance of technical documentation, to ensure it is updated and current.
  • Participate in 24/7 engineer on-call rotation.
  • Keep current on new technologies, applications, and certifications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Core Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or related field, or 5+ years of equivalent experience.
  • Hands-n experience and troubleshooting experience required.  Experience with Microsoft Exchange and VMware is mandatory.  Experience with Dell servers/strage, HP servers/storage, Nimble, Zerto, Azure, AWS, SQL, and Labtech is a plus.
  • Basic scripting fr process automation and maintenance.
  • Ability t manage multiple projects, prioritize workload, manage tasks, and follow through to completion.
  • Ability t effectively communicate, both verbally and written, to both technical and non-technical clients.
  • Friendly presence, positive attitude, and good interpersonal skills.
  • Systems Engineer must be able to transport themselves to client sites.
  • Ability to successfully perform job responsibilities under minimum supervision
  • Ability to work late hours, as needed, during client projects or outages.

CERTIFICATIONS: Microsoft MCSA, MCSE, public cloud (Azure, AWS) and VMware VCP6 preferred.
