With a highly effective team of more than 40 people based in our Beijing office, NRDC China Program have worked hard at both the national and local levels to recommend, develop, and help implement innovative laws, policies, technologies, and market tools that conserve natural resources, curb pollution and accelerate China's transition to a clean, low-carbon economy. NRDC is seeking a Project Manager to work in its Beijing office.

Position Summary

We are looking for a talented and motivated professional with solid technical and policy analysis capability, strong relationship-building and project management skills, and perferrably industrial experience in the cement or construction sector. This position supports NRDC’s goal of expediting the decarbonization of high-emission industries. In the next two years, the Project Manager will manage NRDC’s green cement project in China, which aims to boost the demand for and supply of low-carbon cement and concrete products.

The successful candidate will join NRDC’s China Program and report to the Director of Sustainable Cities.

  • Manage NRDC’s green cement work in China, including actively working with research insititues, cement industry stakehoders and local government officals to promote green cement products in pilot cities; ensure efficient project implementation, timely completion, and high quality output;
  • Develop and manage policy and technical research topics, plans, outlines, budget, etc. through consultation and coordination with supervisors, relevant co-workers, and potential partners; lead the preparation of Chinese and English progress reports, annual reports, issue briefs, and other related communications materials, as needed;
  • Promote knowledge sharing and exchange both internally and externally, including liaising with NRDC’s cement project teams in the U.S. to exchange knowledge, share experiences and support multi-regional strategies;
  • Prepare presentations for conferences, meetings and workshops and speak on behalf of NRDC as needed, on low-carbon transition issues;
  • Contribute to fundraising on ideas, strategies, partners, and contents, and prepare responses and briefings for funders, as needed;
  • Keep abreast of all the latest developments in cement decarbonization in China and internationally to inform NRDC’s work;
  • Undertake other tasks that the Sustainable Cities Project or the China Program may assign;
  • Work collaboratively with team members, cross-teamand partners to create a culture of teamwork, high performance and accountability.

  • Master’s degree or above, with 6-8 years of relevant working experience in cement sector, building construction, energy, and/or other relevant fields.
  • Knowledge of China’s indutry sector transition policies and implementation progress.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with diverse groups from a wide array of backgrounds and levels of business knowledge.
  • Strong analytic capabilities and ability to conduct in-depth research and policy analyses.
  • Innovative and action-oriented solution seeker with the ability to work both independently and with cross-functional teams.
  • Fluency in Chinese and English, with excellent bilingual oral and writing skills.
