Job Description

We are looking for a Project Manager to be part of a team that is responsible for the technical deployments of Actian’s products at our customers.

Seeking a self-starter who is able to work remotely and used to a fast-paced environment.

The successful person will work directly with customers, Actian’s partners and Actian’s Professional Services team to manage the deployment of Actian’s advanced data management products including Actian Avalanche, ActianDataConnect, Actian Vector and Actian X.

They must have the ability to resolve conflicting requirements to ensure project timelines are meet while maintaining resource availability to respond to reactive managed service delivery.

As a Project Manager at Actian, you will:

• Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects

• Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget

• Assist the Director Professional Services with the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility

• Assist the Director Professional Services with resource allocation to ensure availability to all projects

• Develop comprehensive project plans to monitor and track progress

• Share project plans with clients, internal resources and third parties/vendors to ensure consistent delivery expectations

• Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs using appropriate verification techniques

• Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques

• Report and escalate to management as needed

• Manage the relationship with the client and all stakeholders

• Perform risk management to minimize project risks

• Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors

• Utilize, and assist to maintain, Actian’s ProForma project management methodology to create and maintain comprehensive project documentation

• Track project performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of short and long-term goals

• Meet budgetary objectives and make adjustments to project constraints based on financial analysis

• Collaborate with Product Engineering as required to ensure technical issues do not impact on project timelines

• Use and continually develop leadership skills

• Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

Our ideal Project Manager will have:

• Minimum 5 years of experience working in the project management role

• Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills

• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office

• Project Management Professional (PMP) / PRINCE II certification

• Bachelor's Degree in appropriate field of study or equivalent work experience

• Familiarity with SmartSheet software’s collaboration and time management tools

• Advanced time management and analytical skills

• Experience with process improvement

• Outstanding skills presenting to both technical and executive audiences, whether impromptu on a whiteboard or using presentations and demos

• Understanding of, or experience with, relational and large-scale analytics database technology (e.g. Ingres, Vector, Oracle, SQL Server, Snowflake, Netezza, Teradata, etc.) desirable however not essential.
