The LATAM Tax Operations team is an exciting and ambitious operational expansion service with several new roles in Latin America. These new and exciting opportunities will work as part of the Global Client Tax utility with the objective of serving the firms internal and external clients by providing first class services whilst reducing the firms risk as it relates to Tax and compliance with diverse market procedures and complex market/regulatory requirements.
The project manager role will help drive the setup and expansion of the service across the region and beyond. The PM will have exposure and be responsible to build key relationships across the firm (Corporate Tax, XLOB, Onboarding, Risk and Controls, Legal Entity Controllers, Risk, Compliance, Legal, Audit) and will drive innovative technologies, synergies, best practices, and efficiencies across the firm as it relates to building out Tax Operations in LATAM.
The incumbent will work closely with the Head of the Operations, operations manager and various partners and stakeholders, driving key business and technology initiatives and will be responsible for:
Process efficiency initiatives around automations, robotics and low/no code solutions.
Developing and communicating a Tax operations implementation plan across various projects and sub projects with varying levels of detail.
Design/ Approach, Operating Model for multiple countries as it relates to project and operational excellence for Tax operations in the region including all Testing and Production Readiness (as necessary)
Developing and communication of status updates and regulatory changes to stakeholders and senior managers through various tools, presentations and reports.
Support regular status reporting for Senior Management as part of the Firm-Wide Program Management Office. This includes status scorecard, LOB reviews and reporting of RAG ratings, key messages, issues, risks and open decisions.
Supporting definition and development of project progress metrics and on-going tracking; Includes data analysis and drawing any initial summary conclusions on progress/risk/issues, also includes maintenance of actions logs
Developing formulas and functions with the ability to be a beacon of excellence within the team for data analysis.
Support PMs in maintaining the project plan and timeline for the program and tracking for progress/completion to ensure program is on time with task and milestone deliverables;
Contribute to creating and executing controlled reconciliation processes over data from a multitude of different sources.
Performing regular reviews of clients Tax information to ensure the team are receiving the appropriate tax client information in each jurisdiction.
Partner with Corporate Tax and other internal control functions to ensure accurate and compliant tax onboarding and documentation (e.g., W-8, W-9, CRS self-certifications), international and local withholding (e.g., FATCA, NRA, backup withholding) and local and regional reporting (e.g., SITER A, SIRE, 1099, 1042-S)
Ensure client tax-related processes and controls are appropriately executed via QA testing and tracked via defined metrics
Support the identification and implementation of improvements to client tax processes and controls, including system implementations and/or enhancements partnering with the LOBs based on issues identified through QA testing.
In addition the incumbent will have ownership for specific MIS metrics and will be responsible for reporting to the supervisory and management team on a weekly basis.
Experience / Qualifications / Character Attributes
Degree qualified with proven project management experience of 4 + years in a large multi-national organisation working with cross functional projects on a regional scale.
Strong confident interpersonal, technical and problem solving skills with the ability to influence and persuade senior stakeholders in the pursuit of project excellence.
Strong organizational skills, ability to manage multiple and conflicting priorities and work independently while keeping multiple stakeholders appropriately updated.
Experience in applying Project management methodology (e.g. waterfall, agile etc)
First class communication skills both written and verbally with confidence and the ability to challenge effectively at all levels.
Detail oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, tight deadlines and complex deliverables across various lines of businesses.
Pragmatic and enthusiastic with a proactive, self-motivated positive attitude even in times of pressure all whilst maintaining a high degree of accuracy and a good eye for detail.
A flexible and analytical approach to problem solving with proven risk awareness and the ability to ‘see the bigger picture’ escalating and managing risk and issues.
