About the Program

The Hunter Class Frigate Program (HCFP) is a $39 billion (AUD) program to establish a sovereign shipbuilding capability in Australia on the back of producing nine Anti-Submarine Warfare Frigates at Techport in Adelaide for the Royal Australian Navy. The HCFP is a complex program that compromises two major components: A shipbuilding and operations team whose focus is on working with the commonwealth to establish a shipbuilding capability; and the HCFP ship design and development team. The HCFP ship design and development team is made up of two major delivery streams: Platform Systems and Combat Systems.

About the Opportunity

As the Project Manager Combat Systems, you will be accountable for the project performance in terms of schedule, budget and technical requirements.

More specifically you will:

  • Lead the project team under the guidance of the Program Manager to successfully execute the contract
  • Ensure the project team achieves the required performance in terms of schedule, budget and technical requirements
  • Ensure that all members of the project team are engaged in understanding and proactively managing their contribution to Product Safety
  • Build and maintain Customer relationships by being a focal point for Customer contact
  • Reporting on Project Performance and issues at the Business Unit Reviews where required
  • Contribute to the development of the strategy and business plans

About you

As an ideal applicant for this opportunity, you'll have:

  • Demonstrated relevant experience in Project Management within an engineering organisation
  • A relevant degree qualification
  • The ability to negotiate with and influence internal and external stakeholders in a way which generates business benefit whilst maintaining key relationships
  • The ability to motivate individuals and teams across a number of business areas, to shape and implement business requirements
  • Ability to use and adapt written and verbal communication skills to suit a variety of difference audiences is critical to this role
  • Enthusiasm and the desire to grow your career

As Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain appropriate clearance.

International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) are applicable and as such, your nationality may be a factor in determining your suitability for this role.
