The Organisation

Brisbane City Council (Council) is the largest local government in Australia, with an annual budget of more than $3 billion and assets in excess of $22 billion. Our responsibility is to provide leadership and good governance for the people of Brisbane and to manage our resources to create a prosperous and vibrant New World City.

Brisbane Metro continues Council’s commitment to the evolution and improvement of transport in the City. Brisbane Metro is a high frequency public transport system that will cut travel times, reduce CBD bus congestion and improve services to and from the suburbs by fixing critical bottlenecks in the inner city and introducing new, high capacity metro vehicles.

The Opportunity

2018 has been a year of significant milestones for Brisbane Metro. The appointment of a Project Delivery Director was followed by Infrastructure Australia listing the project as a “High Priority” this year and a commitment of $300 million was received from the Federal Government. With this commitment, the $944 million capital cost of Brisbane Metro is fully funded, with Council committed to funding the balance.  Council is keen to continue the momentum, with the appointment of other key roles to the Project team.

Working in Council means delivering excellent customer service to the people of Brisbane.
