In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health), patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reporting to the Vice President, Strategy and Chief Information Officer (CIO) and working in a dyad role with the Executive Clinical Director, IHealth and Clinical Informatics, the Chief Project Officer, IHealth will be accountable for the delivery of IHealth against budget and to full scope in alignment with the Treasury Board schedule. This role will be responsible for leading the project team and will bring strong project and change management methodology; report out to IHealth Board task force and achieve system collaboration amongst Provincial Clinical Information. The role will liaise with a broad range of stakeholders to ensure alignment with Island Health's strategic plan, Ministry mandates, project objectives and long term sustainability. The portfolio will be responsible for in excess of $54 million in capital funding as well as a large operating budget. Other key responsibilities include overseeing the planning and procurement processes, ensuring the vision that the organization's advancement in the pursuit of excellence in quality and safety of patient care.


Education, Training And Experience

Master's Degree in Business Administration or a related field, supplemented with fifteen (15) years' recent related experience in progressively more complex and senior management/leadership roles in a large complex health care organization including five (5) years' recent, relevant experience in directly related major change activities.

Skills And Abilities

  • Demonstrated knowledge, experience, and success in Project, Program, portfolio management experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other related accounting procedures/principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, plan, direct and implement processes within the context of a complex system wide project.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, manage and mitigate risk.
  • Strong ability to provide senior level vision and leadership on a large complex project.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain rapport with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to meet time sensitive deliverable and manage significant budgets.
  • Demonstrated ability to function effectively in a highly dynamic environment subject to continuous change.
