Western Sydney University's Office of Marketing and Communication is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Engagement Marketing Senior Project Support Officer to assist with the coordination, planning, delivery and evaluation of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Alternative Entry Program and to contribute to other engagement initiatives that build the educational aspirations and attainment, Aboriginal cultural awareness, networks and pride, and the skills, knowledge and confidence of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (s) school students.

The role prepares engagement schedules, runs a range of engagement and recruitment outreach activities, organises and runs meetings and events, liaises extensively with internal and external stakeholders, undertakes program promotion and coordination, gathers and complies data, evaluates engagement and program outcomes, writes reports and briefings, and ensures program materials are in place when liaising with schools and community groups.

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Engagement Marketing Senior Project Support Officer reports into the the Manager, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Engagement Marketing.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Alternative Entry Program to University for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (s) prospective students including coordinating the committee requirements, policy and reporting
  • Building and maintaining relationships and collaborations with internal and external stakeholders including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (s) Elders, educators, parents and communities, University staff and students, Department of Education and Training staff, program partners, service providers, community organisations and others
  • Contribute to preparing documentation, presentations and reports for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander engagement including assisting with organising and implementing a range of activities, presentations and events while supporting core events
  • Supporting the input of records and database, compiling data and evaluation reports

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Have degree with relevant professional and project management experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
  • Proven experience in project management, even planning and implementation related to engagement programs
  • Demonstrate understanding and knowledge of the range of issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (s) Australians in relation to education
  • Well-developed communication, written and interpersonal skills including proven ability to write reports
  • Proven ability in building positive relationships, deliver professional presentations and the ability to liaise with management, academic and professional staff, students, external partners
  • Good research, analytical, conceptual, administration and computer literacy skills.  


This role will suit a hands-on professional who is a team player and can successfully take on multiple challenges. Applicants should have a current NSW Driver’s License and be prepared to operate across different campuses and schools and be willing to step outside job boundaries at times in the interest of achieving demanding deadlines and common goals.  

It is a mandatory requirement for any incumbent of this position to have a current NSW employee Working with Children clearance in accordance with the NSW Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012.

This is an ongoing, full time position based at our Penrith (Werrington North) campus, but relocating to Hawkesbury in 2019.

Remuneration Package: HEW Level 6 - $93,003 to $99,812 per annum (comprising Salary $78,589 to $84,268, plus 17% Superannuation and Leave Loading).
