HSBC Wealth Management leads the Asia-Pacific implementation of our global strategy to deliver world-class solutions to retail and private clients seeking to grow, protect, preserve or transfer their wealth. This involves the development and management of needs-based solutions covering foreign exchange, deposit, investment, insurance and financing products, as well as the provision of suitable market insights and updates, financial planning and advisory services.

We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as Senior Overseas Chinese Business Development Manager .

Principal responsibilities 

  • Drive the improvement for customers to access and experience existing product and service capabilities when they travel, work, study or move with families in the Greater Bay Area and overseas, such as cross border account opening, credit cards, Insurance, Wallets, Payments by building our global center of excellence and specialist support
  • Enrich understanding of the regulations impacting International Chinese such as capital outflow control, currency control within Retail Banking and Wealth Management and work with Legal, Compliance, Financial Crime Compliance to establish proper risk control to ensure business activities fully compliant with regulatory requirements
  • Establish thought leadership for the Group on the needs and wants of targeted international diasporas on specific products and services
  • Manage and identify the opportunities to improve the cross border referral process and customer experience and product proposition
  • Lead the enhancement of customer experience by collating customer feedback, identifying deficiencies in areas like operational, administrative, processes and competitiveness of products and services
  • Manage within the matrix and influence across markets working with country management teams in order to deliver the value to Group greater than the sum of the total
  • Drive the collaboration between global, regional and country teams influencing them and building strong relationships




  • Solid years of experiences working in Retail Banking and Wealth Management

  • Global exposure and previous experience with multi culture and multi geography program management

  • Strong product management or sales distribution experience

  • Depth of exposure and experience with mass affluent client segments in one or two key markets where HSBC has the footprint

  • Solid experience in the China or Hong Kong business

  • Solid experience of managing cross border business activities preferred

  • Customer centric with great attention to details that makes difference on customer experience

  • Proficient to translate customer needs into products and channel requirements

  • Results oriented with high performance standard

  • Excellent relationship building and with strong interpersonal skills

  • Strong ability to navigate conflicting strategic priorities and decisions

  • Fluent in Chinese.  Putonghua speaking preferred
