Principal PS Consultant (Software Engineer)

This role opens up opportunities for candidates based in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane or Auckland.

Our Custom Solutions Practice is a global customer-facing team that are responsible for the innovation, delivery and support of software development services that meet specialised needs for Genesys customers.

The teams’ offerings include Custom Contact Center applications, Genesys product extensions, third-party systems integration, as well as development consulting services using Genesys cloud products. The platforms of development include AWS, Azure, Windows, Linux, Web, Mobile and Social using a broad range of software languages and technologies.

Our team works with some of the leading names in the industry where they demonstrate their skill in integrated, scalable software development practices for customer and employee interaction solutions.

You will be responsible for the solution software lifecycle from design through delivery and can be called on for specialised support activities. Typical work activities include customer interactions to discuss functional objectives and requirements and provide design and development services. At all times best practices shall be observed and working with colleagues and solution contributors will be required.

What You’ll Do:

The primary responsibilities for this role include (but are not limited to).

  • Operates in a Professional Services model which includes attending customer meetings to derive requirements, concept designs, present and demonstrate proposed solutions
  • Design and develop software solutions leveraging Genesys products and services based on industry best Services/Project Delivery practices
  • Develop solutions using modern languages and Genesys SDKs/APIs on AWS, Windows, and Linux platforms
  • Work under the direction of a Project Manager with regular communication of project status
  • Follows PS implementation methodologies and product standards
  • Create accurate development estimates in collaboration with the Team Manager and PS pre-sales
  • Identifies engagement-related problem areas and solves the issues in a proactive manner
  • Provides onsite/remote support for customer escalations as needed
  • Assists the support team in triage and remediation activities
  • Perform knowledge transfer of the delivered solutions at the conclusion of the engagement as necessary
  • Continues to stay abreast of technology through internal training, lab development, and industry-standard training/certifications
  • Maintains friendly and professional attitude in stressful situations
  • Ad-hoc duties as directed by Management

You’ve been there and done this…

  • BS/MS/BA or equivalent
  • 5 years or more of commercial software development experience in C++, Java and C#.NET, JavaScript, Nodejs, ReactJS, mobile and HTML/CSS. Includes a working knowledge of SQL and no-SQL databases
  • Experience in web application development methodologies, solid understanding of web architecture including REST and SOAP web services
  • Experience in AWS development with technical skills in Lambda, EC2, SES, S3, CloudFront, Dynamo DB and VPC’s
  • Experience developing for and deploying on Linux operating environments
  • Good practical experience working with Genesys technologies. Experience developing software with integration to various customer environments/backend systems using Genesys APIs/SDKs is a BIG plus.
  • Experience with GIT, BitBucket or similar source management including creating Pull Requests and Continuous integration methods
  • Ability to work independently on routine duties or projects, general instruction on new assignments.
  • Proven experience in a high-performance culture.
  • Good verbal, writing skills and the ability to effectively interact with clients (business and technical audiences) in the English language is a must. Having similar capabilities in other languages is a plus.
  • Exceptional Windows computer user, especially in front of customers and familiar with Office 365 applications particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Highly Desired Technical Skills

  • Experience developing for major CRM products such as Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics, SAP etc.
  • Practical experience with best Consulting Services/Project Delivery practices employed in the industry among leading consulting organizations including Agile methodology.
  • Practical experience with mobile application development, either in native or HTML5 form.
  • Good working experience with Database Administration/Optimization

Business Skills

  • Capable of working on fast-paced and large customer-facing projects.
  • Excellent and clear verbal and written business communication skills, information presentation, diagramming and explaining complex topics
  • Knowledge of customer service/contact center processes.
  • Knowledge of Cloud change control processes
  • Exercises good judgment
  • Strong follow-through, ownership & responsibility on tasks assigned.
  • Effective time management and maintains flexibility
