Key Responsibilities:
- Provides health promotion services including: school physicals, immunization and well-child clinics, well-woman clinics, adult focus clinics, blood pressure screening clinics, nutritional counseling and family planning counseling. Provides prenatal care if applicable.
- Conducts health education activities for individuals and groups. Administers or prescribes appropriate treatments and/or medications.
- Performs or orders appropriate laboratory tests, x-rays and other tests.
- Obtains, performs and records patient histories and physical examination.
- Evaluates and treats minor illnesses and injuries.
- Maintains strict patient confidentiality.
- Maintains medical records and timely documentation in medical records in accordance with established clinic protocols.
- Monitors and provides appropriate treatment in consultation with physician for chronic disease.
- Obtain consultation or referrals for patient services not provided by the clinic.
- Conducts health education activities for individuals and groups. Promotes health by advising patients concerning diet, hygiene and methods of prevention of disease.
- Perform surgical and other medical procedures commensurate with competency.
- Provides additional services determined by mutual agreement with Medical Director and Executive Director.
Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Completion of MSN and Family Nurse Practitioner program.
- Current, valid license to practice medicine in the State of Oregon, including DEA license and CPR required.
- Possess the tact necessary to deal effectively with patients, physicians and employees.
- Current BLS certificate.
- Current, relevant, and substantial knowledge of areas related to health center licensing and operations, e.g., legal/regulatory, administrative, policy, protocols, and other clinical issues, especially within a FQHC environment, required.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team, in collaborative settings, required.
- Understands and is committed to maintaining highest level of confidentiality.
- Sensitivity to needs of culturally diverse patient and employee population.
- Willingness and ability to work some evenings and weekends, as needed.
- Must have a pleasant, professional attitude toward patients, customers, co-workers and supervisors.
- Teamwork skills a must.
