Alstom has been awarded the PTA Australia’s $1.6 billion Railcar Program. As part of the project we will design, manufacture and maintain 246 new railcars needed for METRONET projects and the replacement of the A-series trains. We will also deliver 6 DMU railcars to replace the five diesel railcars that operate the twice daily Australind service between Perth and Bunbury.
The Quality Engineer will join ALSTOM on the Perth Metronet Project to support & drive the Quality and Compliance throughout the business unit during Manufacturing and Testing & Commissioning activities of Rollingstock. The Quality Engineer is reporting to the Project Quality Manager and will be responsible for ensuring that the right first time is achieved for the Perth Metronet Project, as well as to ensure that the manufacturing and test processes are followed. This role will ensure that the rollingstock is built to specification and ensures that the manufacturing and test records are produced on time and accurately.
Main responsibilities will include:
•Responsible for ensuring that the product is compliant to Engineering specifications and Design requirements.
•In-process inspection of Components, Assemblies, and Vehicles to the established criteria and specifications
•Responsible in organising and successful execution of inspection points along the manufacturing stages including hold points, witness points, and quality gates.
•Works closely together with Operations to ensure that quality is built-in to the product from the start.
•Verification of Production’s self-inspection result.
•Report Non-compliances, raise and communicate non-conformance reports, and ensure the containment action is initiated in a timely manner in order to minimize or eliminate its impact to QCD.
•Analysis of the non-conforming products and quality related customer complaints, including issuing corrective action / preventative action; managing/tracking of corrective action through 8D Methodology.
•Creation / revision of manufacturing check sheets and completion of Car History book. Maintain the project quality records and Verify the configuration integrity.
This position will intially be located in our Perth, CBD office with a move to the Bellevue facility in 2021.
What you'll bring to the team:
◾Degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical) or equivalent experience
◾Experience in Quality Assurance / Quality Control, rail way indusry experiece is highly desireable
◾Experience with ISO9001 Quality Management System
◾Proven experience in modern manufacturing techniques
◾Experience in raising Non-conformance reports (NCR) and managing Non-conforming products
◾Knowledgeable of PFMEA, Control Plans
