Job Purpose of the Lab Quality Technician: Working in the analysis Laboratory providing a full range of metrology and analysis services to a cross functional team. Managing the priority of workload to ensure that systems are maintained and results documented in a precise and timely manner. Reports To: Process Quality Engineer Department: Quality Direct Reports: None Budgetary Responsibility: N/A Summary of Main Duties & Responsibilities of the Lab Quality Technician: * Undertake component, solder joint & weld cross section analysis. * Carry out stress analysis on varied equipment/processes using strain gauges and relevant hardware/software to evaluate risk to components. * X-ray analysis of new and current production parts to establish conformance. * Contribute to MSA and Gauge R&R analysis of Lab metrology equipment. * Teardown analysis of products as per Customer agreement. * Use of Co-ordinate measurement machines. * Use of high magnification optical aids (microscope, Mantis). * Support Process, Product, Test, and Quality Engineering requests as and when required. * Complete and document daily/weekly/monthly measurement/inspection/analysis routines. * Contribute to the running and upkeep of the plant calibration system. * Determine ESD acceptance of items to be used in controlled areas. * Feedback potential issues to relevant departments for improvement. (Production, Test Eng., Process Quality, SQA). * Provide daily shift reports. * Document all inspection/measurement data and provide technical reports. * Maintain organization of analysis areas to meet or exceed housekeeping and WIP objectives. * Promote safe working practice. * To undertake any other duties of which the knowledge, skills and experience required fall within the post holder’s expected capability and commensurate with the post holder’s position within the company. Job Specific Procedural requirements of the Lab Quality Technician: * Calibration control. * Lab Requests. * Stress Analysis. * Cross Section Analysis. * X-ray Analysis. * Part Inspection Standard audits. General Procedural Requirements of the Lab Quality Technician: * Control Program. * Laboratory Scope. * Control of Non-Conforming product. * HSE&S Responsibilities. Education / Qualifications Required of the Lab Quality Technician: * ONC in Electronics, Metrology or Manufacturing discipline. Experience Required: * Excellent working knowledge of metrology and test equipment e.g. Vernier’s, gauge blocks, torque meters, DMMs, balances, etc. * Use of CMM measurement equipment (PC-DMIS software). * Solder inspection experience. * Working knowledge of basic computer systems and programs. * Willingness to participate on a team and drive continuous improvement activities. * Good communication, initiative and decision-making skills. Skills Required: * Working knowledge of basic computer systems and programs. * Willingness to participate on a team and drive continuous improvement activities. * Good communication skills. * Experience in a high volume SMT electronics production environment. * Solder inspection experience. * Ability to interpret drawings to determine dimensional analysis datums and specifications for measurement using a variety of metrology equipment. * Visually recognise PCB assembly errors to IPC-A-610 standards
