Role Purpose

Dentsu International’s purpose is to achieve its operating margin and growth objectives to deliver to our sustainable multi-year margin and revenue growth agendas.

The purpose of the Regional Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) is therefore to maximize revenue while optimising margin contribution and also mitigating risk across both dentsu International’s new and existing client business base.

This will be achieved by defining and implementing a strategy of commercial excellence comprising 6 key areas of focus (People, Clients, Work, Financials, Social & Transformation) across dentsu International.

The CCO is a critical role within the Region and will collaborate with geographical, client, functional and service line leadership to create, educate, drive and scale commercial excellence across all markets and service lines, leveraging existing best practice from across the business to help codify this practise across the entire business while contributing to sustainable and profitable client relationships.

The Regional CCO will report into the dentsu International Global Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) and matrix report into the Regional CFO.

Key Accountabilities

DI Commercial Excellence Practice

  • Design, implement and manage a practice of commercial excellence supporting all three service lines and associated practise areas to achieve dentsu International’s commercial goals of optimising margin contribution, mitigate risk and maximise growth.

Commercial Excellence Strategy

  • Define and deliver commercial strategy which allows dentsu to define itself through commercial innovation, partnership and sustainable growth.

People: Talent and capability development and network development

  • Provide leadership to the team, acting as a positive role model at all times. Building an active team of strong practitioners nurturing and developing talent.

Clients: Contract Risk Management

  • Working with relevant stakeholders across Operations, Functions, SL and Geographies develop clear management guardrails for Contract Lifecycle Management including client sales approvals with relevant associated policies to ensure that both inter and intra service line/geography contract approvals have the appropriate governance by the business

Work: Governing New and Existing Deals, Managing Risk & Commercial Policy Setting

  • Measure and drive client deal performance on new and existing business and provide senior commercial guidance on key client accounts when support need by the service lines.

  • Develop key Commercial Policies to govern the businesses’ management of areas such as Payment terms, Liabilities and indemnities etc as well as being equipped to appropriately manage negotiations around these topics

Financials: Talent and capability development and network development

  • Establish and lead a regional Commercial Pricing Board to meet dentsu’s pricing strategy agenda and develop commercially attractive and innovative packaged solutions to systematise approaches to clients with blends of service line capabilities to scale uptake and adoption

Social:

  • Ensure that dentsu International’s social agenda is embedded and realised through the commercial strategy working closely with the global Chief Sustainability Officer and Global Social Impact team

Transformation:

  • Support dentsu International in the realization of both its financial year and long term (5 year+) commercial goals through the delivery of the global commercial strategy, by collaborating closely with all members of the global executive team

Person Specification

Personal Knowledge/Experience/Attributes:

  • Extensive relevant track record operating within large, complex global organisations, with geographically diverse teams, with proven commercial experience within media, creative and/or data, including staffing, governance, risk management and financial budgetary aspects

  • Demonstrates C-suite maturity and a strong ability to collaborate with multiple levels of the business and functional leaders to streamline processes and work towards resolution of challenges, constraints, and roadblocks and leading commercial strategy development, implementation and innovation

  • Can do attitude and ability to work effectively in a matrix organisation structure with significant emphasis on collaboration and influence.

  • Excellent communication skills ­ with the ability to present complex concepts, risks and strategies to senior management, while being able to discuss detailed technical aspects with experts.

The Chief Commercial Officer will also demonstrate the following role specific competencies:
