Registered Veterinary Technician, RVT GP Treatment and Surgery - VCA Canada Alta Vista Animal Hospital Ottawa, ON

VCA Canada Alta Vista Animal Hospital is seeking a full time RVT. The hours of work are 40 hours per week with a rotation of days, evening and weekends. This position reports directly to the Technical Resources Manager, General Practice.

As a key player in a team environment, the Veterinary Technician is responsible for the following:

  • Assessment, triage, and care of ill patients
  • Assessing and prepping all elective surgeries on a given day
  • Performing dental prophys, including dental radiographs
  • Assisting in anesthetics, X-rays and, laboratory work
  • Stocking, cleaning and, maintenance of treatment areas
  • Provide lunch coverage for departments
  • Math calculations
  • Client updates

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Fluent in English (Reading, Writing and Oral)
  • Able to lift up to 25 kg
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks/ projects
  • Ability to maintain composure in stressful and emergency situations
  • Proven ability to organize, take initiative, work independently, exhibits decision making skills and exercises good judgment
