About the Position

City of Gold Coast is self-insured for its workers compensation liabilities. The position is responsible for the initiation and management of work place injury rehabilitation that support safe systems of work providing a work environment which places the safety of workers and all other persons ahead of the provision of services and protection of equipment.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced case manager to join our team working two days per week on a fixed term basis for twelve months. 

Key Deliverables of the position:

  • Ensure effective employee injury case management that meets the requirements of the Workers Compensation and Rehabilitation Act 2003 and the benchmarks for a self-insurer set by the state Workers’ Compensation Regulator
  • Liaise with treating medical practitioners and specialists utilizing a professional knowledge of injuries and medical conditions to provide critical interpretation of medical reports and treatment programs.
  • Evaluation of an employee’s functional capacity to return to suitable work to include; objective and subjective measures, identifying transferable skills & abilities, evaluating psychosocial issues, and liaison with Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinators to ensure early sustainable outcomes.
  • Maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders within the organisation to promote rehabilitation and early return to work, and to seek constructive feedback that may be implemented to improve processes and outcomes.
  • Conduct detailed workplace assessments applying risk mitigation strategies within individual rehabilitation cases and provide expert advice and reports, including injury management education, to management and employees
  • Evaluate claims progress and provide recommendations through the development of action plans using project-planning methodologies, clearly assigning responsibilities, appropriate measures for success and achievable timeframes.

  • The ability to deliver high quality service to customers (internal / external) and understand and react responsively to customer and team expectations.
  • A well-developed analytical, research and evaluation skills.
