IHS Markit offers reference data cutting across assets classes such as bonds,

loans, equity, CDS. The Reference Data product services internal clients as well as external clients and is focused on developing a suite of Reference Data offerings for the broader marketplace. Municipal Reference Data is a growing product within its Reference Data offering. With cutting edge technologies and domain expertise IHS Markit delivers deep terms and conditions data and new issue information for global government, sovereign, agency, corporate and municipal bonds.

Position summary:

The successful candidate will form a key part of the Municipal Reference Data team responsible for maintaining the smooth running of the day-to-day operations of IHS Markit’s Municipal bonds product and services as well as supporting the questions and requests of our internal and external clients. Working closely with other functions within the wider global team – product management, business analysis, technology and testing – the role also includes enhancing the Municipal Reference Data product offering. The position is offered out of NCR region. The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues across locations such as in Noida, Gurugram, New York, Dallas and London. India is seen as a key strategic priority for the business alongside the existing London and New York to create a 24 hour global support model for the business

This role will ideally see you come from a reference data or funds management background with experience in a similar middle office or operations role. Duties & accountabilities:

As a member of the Reference Data Operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring that security reference data is captured in a timely, accurate and complete manner. Being part of the operations team, the candidate will need to collaborate effectively with DEV, QA and client teams to resolve various data issues and implement new requirements.

Production Support:

  • Monitoring the US Municipal Markets for New issues from Announcement till Pricing of the deals.

  • Ensuring the reference data points of the new deals captured in a timely manner using the existing tools and technologies as per the defined SLAs.

  • Tracking of the Corporate Action information and ensuring those get applied accurately.

  • Running validation checks to ensure that the complete Universe is client ready.

  • Do data comparison from different sources to ensure we have a pristine golden copy.

  • Provide logics and business rules to control and manage the incoming data from source feeds.

  • Monitor Vendor Feeds and Corp Action sources and ensure information is captured timely and accurately.

  • Follow standard operational procedures and highlight any potential deviations to SME/Line Manager.

  • Perform sample Quality check for team members and provide inputs for training, etc.

  • Liaise with counterparts/stakeholders globally and work as ambassador for the team.

  • Work on projects allocated as per agreed timelines.

  • Proactively identify and deliver on opportunities to enhance database coverage and quality/process improvement projects

Service and Client Queries

  • Own and resolve client (internal and external) queries on Muni Ref Data within agreed SLAs.

  • Handle client escalations and complex queries. Work with responsible teams to get issues fixed and escalate where required for timely resolution

  • Work on Root Cause Analysis for data corrections and inconsistencies. Work with Ops leads to take preventive actions

Business competencies:

Education and experience:

  • Graduate degree/ Post Graduate or equivalent in ideally Finance, Economics or Business

Mandatory Skills

  • At least 2-3 years of experience in Reference Data space.
  • Knowledge of capital markets
  • Trouble Shooting & Problem-solving skills
  • Analytical Skills
  • Strong Communication skills
  • Intermediate knowledge of SQL & Excel and ability to deal with large volumes of data for analysis
  • Understanding of Reference Data flow and should have good knowledge of Reference Data content.
  • Basic understanding of associated technology & tools associated with Reference Data.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office

Desired Skills

  • Excel VBA and capital markets certification would be an added advantage
  • Knowledge of 3rd party reference data vendor feeds will be desirable
  • Must have a keen interest in finance and also be up to date with current global financial market news.
  • The candidate must be a self-starter, adapt to dynamics of the work environment, ability to multitask, meet tight timelines, hardworking, efficient with good analytical skills.
  • Must demonstrate superior communication skills (written and verbal) and is expected to interact professionally
  • Being a team player is a vital aspect of the position, and it is expected that the candidate will work well individually, as well as in a global team environment coordinating well within Team as well across other Teams
