About the role

We are seeking an experienced Reserving Manager to join us to support the AXA Insurance Head of Capital & Reserving and the managers within the team in providing a second line of defence on all P&C risk activities. 


You will Manage the independent reserve review to provide a second opinion on reserve recommendations of the actuarial teams within the company.   


To ensure that this is valid, complete and value-adding, you will be required to maintain awareness of business and claims environment conditions and developments.

What you will be doing

  • Leading a team of analysts to complete an independent review of the total AXA Insurance reserves twice a year
  • Preparing and presenting papers for the insurance risk committee, providing challenges and identifying areas requiring further support/investigation.
  • Overseeing development of tools and methods utilised in the independent reserve review to ensure process is efficient, robust and up to date with the latest actuarial practices.
  • Developing and maintaining own awareness of Finance strategies and in all activities verify that actions taken are aligned to strategic goals.
  • Supporting other activities undertaken by the Capital & Reserving team, where required, including review and validation of the internal model results, independent review of the Strategic Plan and second opinion on the reinsurance coverage proposed by the business.
  • Assisting in giving input to the company in respect of insurance related scenarios for the purposes of scenario testing, both at company and group level.
  • Contributing to the production of Solvency Reports where required, including the ORSA, Validation Report, SFCR and RSR.


 

Qualifications

 

What will I need?

  • Previous experience of working at managerial level with broad business knowledge from within Financial Services.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills   – able to interact with Executives, Senior Management and regulators
  • Qualified or nearly qualified actuary / an actuarial/general insurance professional qualification or demonstrating equivalent insurance knowledge to fulfil key accountabilities for the role
  • General insurance experience
  • Substantial product and industry knowledge and understanding of regulatory framework
  • Self motivation
  • Pragmatic decision maker with experience of managing and analysing data
  • Proven ability to work under time pressure
  • Excellent relationship management skills   – ability to manage key relationships and act independently   to maintain relationships both internal and external.
