Job Description

We are currently recruiting for a Junior Restaurant Waiter to join our crew on board the Eastern & Oriental Express for the upcoming 2019/2020 season. The crew is primarily based on board the train during our different journeys of mostly 2 or 3 nights. This is a fixed-term seasonal role until the end of season April 2020, followed by 4 month off-season with a retainer fee.

The Junior Restaurant Waiter will provide an excellent service to high standards for all core aspects of the Food & Beverage operations and serving them in a courteous, efficient and professional manner according to the LQA Restaurant Standard.

Some of the key responsibilities include:

- Provide the absolute highest quality of food, beverage, atmosphere and service.

- Maintains a high standard of personal hygiene and appearance in accordance with our Dress Code Standards for uniformed associates.

- Attend to and anticipate guests’ needs.

- Promote and maintain strong lines of communication and teamwork between the restaurant and kitchen, and all other departments as they interact with Food and Beverage.

- Performs all job functions, special projects, and tasks as assigned such as Workday purchasing items, POS etc.

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

  • Must display professional demeanour at all times. In addition, have excellent personal presentation and display a gracious ‘Asian hospitality.’
  • High school graduate or equivalent vocational training certificate
  • experience of at least 2 years as a Restaurant Waiter, Server in a small luxury hotel, five star hotel/resort or fine dining restaurant preferably worked with LQA service audit before
  • Committed to drive sales for premium/wine pairing offer on board
  • an excellent command of English with an ability to communicate to a professional standard (both oral and written), a second language, preferably French, Chinese or Japanese would be an advantage.
  • demonstrate a “can do” attitude with the willingness to take on new challenges, and team work ethic.
  • a passion for attention to detail and service excellence.
  • an outgoing, naturally charming and pleasant nature to engage guests.
  • demonstrate the ability to think clearly under pressure.

They will also be adaptable, enjoy working in a small team within a confined area and possess the ability to maintain exemplary standards under challenging conditions.
