O’Brien Electrical Narre Warren & Hallam provides electrical contracting services in the commercial, civil and industrial sectors across Metropolitan Melbourne and Australia.

THE ROLE

The OH&S Coordinator is both a site and office based role, responsible for all aspects of workplace health, safety and environment for the company. This is an opportunity for the right candidate to play a critical role in our growing organisation. 

Experienced candidates are preferred, however applicants demonstrating a genuine interest in this role will be considered for training.

  • Develop and maintain the company’s OH&S systems and compliance with legislation. 
  • Work with Managers to implement new OH&S initiatives
  • Develop and implement training programs on health and safety issues.
  • Visit sites regularly to ensure OH&S requirements are being met, provide advice on interpretation and application of regulatory guidelines, standards and compliance codes. 
  • Update and maintain all Safety, Quality Assurance and Environmental Systems and Manuals and ensure both company and legal obligations are met.
  • Maintain and ensure implementation of SOP’s, SWMS and other safety material. 
  • Complete and maintain documentation for customers. 
  • Induct new employees and subcontractors.
  • Assist with completing the OHS administration requirements of tenders.
  • Achieve third party certification of safety systems, ISO or equivalent. 
  • Assist with the implementation of an Integrated Management System. 
  • Liaise with client OH&S representatives to ensure their requirements are met.
  • Attend and participate in toolbox meetings to provide guidance to employees and provide safety presentations.
  • Ensure accurate information is documented on any work place incidents.
  • Collaborate with the HR Coordinator regarding employee training and any WorkSafe communications.
  • Identify emerging OH&S risks in the workplace.
  • Manage all company plant and equipment inclusive of maintenance  

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Minimum of Certificate IV in WHS/OHS 
  • Electrical/trade industry experience preferable 
  • Ability to produce high quality safety reports and documentation
  • A high level of computer literacy
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment 
  • Demonstrated ability to influence internal and external stakeholders
  • A practical, fair and collaborative approach to the role
  • Excellent time management, prioritisation and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently
