The Sales Development Representative (SDR) will partner with Marketing and Sales to drive phone-based lead generation, appointment setting, lead qualification and sales support to the Sales team. This position requires heavy strategic outbound phone calling, qualification, consultative selling skills and tight collaboration with the Sales Reps to generate new clients. The SDR will be expected to manage a lead pipeline, report on qualification and call activity and stay thoroughly informed on all products. They must have the confidence, and willingness, to roll up their sleeves and work directly with the Sales and Marketing team and various other departments. This position is located in Melbourne.


  • Own lead triage/management and prospecting activities
  • Meet or exceed opportunity/ appointment quota through phone-based prospecting & lead qualification
  • Develop and execute on a strong prospecting plan of attack and approach
  • Qualify interested prospects/leads and arrange sales appointments
  • Deliver sales presentations when necessary
  • Track all relevant qualification and lead management activity using Salesforce.com (including calls, prospect pipeline, account notes, etc.)
  • Quickly learn the technical aspects of the product, effectively communicate the value proposition and be able to react to objections, competitive questions and other FAQ's
  • Provide business acumen for customers and strive to understand the business problem we are solving in order to best configure the solution and exceed customer expectations
  • Proactively manage personal schedule, leads pipeline and campaigns in order to meet milestones and quarterly objectives
  • Collaborate successfully with Inside & Field Sales to optimise team selling productivity
  • Occasionally required to attend countrywide industry events to support the Marketing Manager
  • Provide value added market intelligence to the Sales & Marketing department

  • The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years’ experience in a customer service or sales role
  • Previous experience with Salesforce.com
  • Proficient PC skills including MS office suite including e-mail, excel spreadsheet, record keeping, and routine database activity
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct extensive lead follow up calls, email activity and end user organisation research through tools such as Discover.org
  • Recent, IT industry and/or enterprise software selling experience is preferred
  • Experience in prospecting to public sector (local and central government), retail and commercial prospects a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver above expectation results in driving pipeline revenue opportunities for products & services
  • Excellent organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Creative tactics to reach the executive management of enterprise IT
  • Team player with solid communication and presentation skills
  • Strong skills in data analysis & sales tools use.
  • Ability to share best practices, continually improve processes and messaging, and provide clear and consistent reporting to Executive Management
  • Ability to work independently & proactively in a dynamic startup environment
