Deimos Imaging is looking for a Senior Sales Director, Europe to join our crew. The Senior Sales Director, Europe will build business success by identifying, qualifying and selling to prospects within the European region. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing an Earth Observation (EO) sales plan, including targeting year-over-year growth, identifying new business opportunities, maintaining accounts and managing third parties and distributors.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

In addition to overseeing sales revenue targets, order intake and strategic direction of the European region, the Senior Sales Director will lead the company’s full range of Business Development and Sales activities related to EO data, value-added information products/applications and services. Key responsibilities include:

Sales and New Business Development

  • Develop Deimos’s strategy towards European Space Agency (ESA) and Europe
  • Meet and exceed targets for identifying, pursuing and growing new business opportunities to create a profitable and sustainable business
  • Summarize all relevant ESA EMITS announcements and prioritize/manage upcoming opportunities
  • Identify new and upcoming opportunities and communicate back on these to the business regularly
  • Lead ESA bids and act as lead bid-writer for ESA proposals, supported as needed by technical, financial, legal resources
  • Work closely with key stakeholders within Deimos and ESA to ensure timely and responsive bid submissions
  • Attend ESA events and represent Deimos
  • Develop and implement the sales and marketing plan to include: trends, competition, marketing plan, events, sales forecasts and 3-5-year plan in the region
  • Maintain and provide a high level of customer service while personally managing accounts
  • Maximize possible business opportunities to create long-term, profitable relationships with clients and partners

Marketing and Distribution

  • Gather customer requirements, work with customers to understand their needs
  • Work with the Engineering Organisation to develop innovative product offerings and propositions for the EO marketplace, including the integration of imagery from 3rd party sensors
  • Define and implement plans for selling new products
  • Understand and define key segmentation, to deliver new customer insights and develop sales strategies to exploit insight gained

Financial Reporting

  • Provide accurate, relevant and timely financial information to the Company (budgets, sales forecasting, cash forecasts, marketing ROI)
  • Review and monitor reporting processes and improve where possible, communicating changes to users
  • Interact with Finance department to ensure correct data input into CRM and mandatory use of CRM

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Applicable Bachelors or Masters University Degree or Equivalent (technology specialization incl. Science, Remote Sensing, Aerospace Engineering, Aeronautic, Physics, Geology, Geography)
  • 7+ years’ experience working within or in collaboration with ESA
  • 10+ years’ experience and excellent knowledge of Earth Observation, Remote Sensing and Geographic Information System technologies and applications, in an international environment
  • Evidence of new business development and working with, and supporting partners, sales channels, finding and negotiating distribution contracts

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:

  • Target-driven with strong interpersonal skills including team management, coupled with a strong business focus and aptitude to cope with the pressure of an uncertain and results-oriented environment 
  • Ability to plan and prioritize work to achieve goals and targets
  • Ability to lead from the front and influence at senior levels, with a high level of negotiation ability
  • Product Development and Project Management experience including the management, marketing and distribution of 3rd party support a plus
  • Highly customer-oriented with the initiative and willingness to learn
  • Sound-decision making and strong time management skills
  • Financial acumen
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Fluency in English (oral and written) required
  • Fluency in additional languages an asset

LOCATION & TRAVEL:

  • Candidates from the Madrid area are preferred, but a remote candidate will be considered in any major European city
  • Available to travel internationally on a regular basis (in excess of 50% of time spent in the role)
