Abbott Point of Care (APOC), a $600 million division of Abbott (NYSE: ABT), enables health care professionals to accurately achieve real-time, lab-quality diagnostic results at the point of care within minutes.  Testing at the point of care enables health care professionals to make rapid triage and treatment decisions when diagnosing a patient’s condition or monitoring a treatment response. By simplifying the testing process, clinicians can focus on what matters most—caring for the patient.

We have an opportunity for a Sales Manager Nordics, Belgium and Netherlands.  This position impacts Division´s sales, profits and growth goals. This position has full commercial responsibility, lead, motivate and drive activities of the sales team to ensure delivery of all identified financial metrics. Key responsible and contact person for all issues related to APOC business in the territories assigned, as well as ensuring quality and regulatory compliance.


  • This position is responsible for the Nordics (Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Iceland, Greenland), Belgium and Netherlands
  • Ensures revenue and margin targets are achieved. Plan 2020 Sales are ~6 million USD. >10% growth planned year over year for the next 3-5 years
  • Identify market segments for future growth; set up pilot projects to explore new market opportunities
  • Prepare forecasts accurately and to a high standard and in a timely manner
  • Build local account management plans, communicate these and orchestrate implementation with all stakeholders involved
  • Track tender opportunities and manage tender submissions
  • Participate in local commercial meetings and ensure adherence of the local team to local policies
  • Responsible for a team of 6 - KAMs and Implementation Specialists
  • Manages, develops and motivates team members, providing regular coaching, role fostering a high-performance culture and role modelling customer centric behaviors.
  • Ensures goal achievement (by e.g. giving support and coaching). Defines, communicates and monitors performance standards.
  • Partner with Regional Marketing to drive local marketing initiatives such as product launches, new marketing tools, new promotional campaigns while ensuring all activities comply with the relevant Acts, legal demands, ethical standards and corporate business and safety procedures
  • Work with regional Marketing to modify or create marketing materials and programs appropriate and targeted to the geography
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with key customers, opinion leaders and influential external bodies to drive a positive image of Abbott Point of Care in the marketplace
  • Drive the principals of best practice sales management through the assigned region
  • Collects and shares information on competitor products and strategies. Regularly visits customers to update on expectations and requirements. Evaluate customer surveys in order to gain insight into customer perceptions regarding our company, products and operations. Develops action plans based on this analysis.

Qualifications/ Experience:


  • 8-10 years of demonstrated success in sales
  • At least 2 years of managing direct reports
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities
  • Strong communication skills in a scientific environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated leadership capabilities
  • Must be very organized and have a proactive approach
  • Solid analytical skills and a data driven decision making approach.
  • Proven ability to engage with clinicians and or clinical end users into discussions regarding product benefits and utilization and testing technology


  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Science, Engineering, or closely related discipline is required OR relevant combination of education or experience.
  • Fluency in English. Languages covering parts of the geography a plus. E.g. Dutch speaker with fluency in French will be a distinct advantage. Similar advantage for candidate with knowledge of Scandinavian languages.
