We are on the hunt for an experienced and dynamic Venue Sales and Functions Manager to lead and drive budgeted sales targets for all venues across Zoos SA, including weddings, Twilight Zoos, special events and after-hours functions.  You will be responsible for being the operational liaison with on-site caterers and ensuring smooth operations of on-site functions and venue facilities. 

Your responsibilities will include (however not limited to) -

  • Collaborating with the Marketing team to design and develop innovative marketing and sales strategies for the facilities and venues across all sites;
  • Responding to and actively seeking opportunities regarding venue hire and Twilight Zoo hire within a timely manner;
  • Developing sales plans for promotion and sales of Zoo venues and associated experiences;
  • Identifying and developing opportunities for promoting Zoos SA, including the development and maintenance of a contacts database;
  • Developing and maintaining excellent relations with key stakeholders across each site to ensure the smooth operation of all functions on behalf of the client;
  • Conducting regular site visits for potential and ongoing clients as required;
  • Following up with clients in relation to customer service and quality assurance;
  • Utilising sales and networking skills to develop business opportunities; and
  • Maintaining knowledge on market trends to ensure Zoos SA and catering contractor’s product is relevant in the market place.

Flexibility is key to this role, your standard hours of work will be 32 hours and these hours will be spread across the week (including after-hours functions, weekends, public holidays).  You will also be given the opportunity to work up to full time hours during our peak seasons.


The successful candidate will be a strong communicator with a can do attitude and the ability to act autonomously, efficiently and resiliently.  You will have exceptional time management and negotiating skills and a passion for creating fantastic guest/visitor experiences. 

The successful candidate will be/have -

  • Extensive event, wedding sales / planning experience;
  • Qualifications in Events, Sales, Marketing, Business or Communications;
  • Proven experience in sales and achievement of targets and KPI’s;
  • Significant experience in liaising between multiple contractors and clients and knowledge in the successful maintenance of these relationships;
  • Understanding of the Adelaide and South Australian business & tourism sector in order to maintain and develop excellent relations for established and potential contractors/clients; and
  • Financial acumen with regard to budget management and forecasting.
