JMT is seeking a Construction Management Section Head to be responsible for business development, financial success, and managing staff for the Construction Management Group in the NYC office, focusing on transportation and infrastructure markets in the NY metropolitan market. The successful candidate will be able to use our New York City or Newark, New Jersey offices as their home base.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate strategic growth plan with NYC office manager and Construction Management practice leader
  • Establish and grow market presence in area through marketing and business development
  • Manage financial budget for CM/CI department and allocate resources accordingly
  • Lead and contribute to the production of proposal
  • Serve as a technical expertise resource to project managers and technical staf
  • Establish resources staffing needs for the section
  • Interview and hire staff for the section
  • Perform performance reviews for staff based on input from project managers on assigned teams
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field from an accredited program
  • Professional Engineer License in NY, NJ and CT
  • 15 years’ experience in CM/CI for transportation and infrastructure clients in the region
  • Project management and business development experience
  • Demonstrated competence writing successful proposals for NYSDOT, NYCDOT, NYCDDC, NYCDEP, MTA, and PANYNJ
  • Demonstrated successful experience working with NYSDOT, NYCDOT, NYCDDC, NYCDEP, MTA, and PANYNJ preferred
  • Supervisory experience preferred

Working Conditions

Work is performed within a general office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
