Are you an experienced or aspiring SEND English Teacher looking to make a meaningful impact in a supportive and inclusive environment? A dedicated special school in Chelmsford is seeking a passionate teacher to deliver engaging English lessons to learners with a range of complex needs. This full-time, contract role begins in September 2025, offering an exciting opportunity to work in a setting where every student’s progress is celebrated.

The successful candidate will be confident in delivering the English curriculum in a creative and accessible way, supporting pupils with additional learning needs including ASD, MLD, and SEMH. Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and differentiated English lessons to students with SEND.
  • Support students in developing communication, literacy, and confidence.
  • Contribute to planning, assessments, and pupil progress reviews.
  • Work closely with LSAs, therapists, and the wider support team.
  • Create a calm, structured learning environment using trauma-informed strategies.
  • Foster positive relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues.
  • Help maintain an inclusive culture where every student is valued and supported.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • QTS or equivalent teaching qualification (essential).
  • Experience teaching English in a SEND or special school setting (preferred).
  • Knowledge of adaptive teaching, EHCP targets, and inclusive classroom practice.
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
  • A nurturing, patient, and flexible teaching style.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student well-being.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
