JOB OVERVIEW

OPG is seeking an analytical and results-driven team player to join our team on a 24-month contract, in the role of Advisor, Data Analytics who will be focused on data management and data reporting.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Workforce Analytics & Reporting the Advisor, Data Analytics will be responsible to create information and data files; provide routine and ad hoc reports, models, and analysis to meet the needs of the business. Ensuring that OPG’s business leaders have the supporting analytics and data they need when making decisions regarding workforce planning initiatives and labour relations strategies.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Gather, cleanse and analyze OPG’s people data, create data files and reports by writing code, programming, and developing models and analytical tools with accessing OPG’s HR information systems (HRIS – SAP Successfactors) and relational databases. Apply programming knowledge of Python, JavaScript, R, DAX; Technologies- Machine Learning, MS Azure; Database- MySQL, and Oracle SQL;
  • Contribute to specialized analysis and reports to support management in making better decisions related to; human capital management, workforce planning, succession and performance planning, labour relations, compensation and benefits, and regulatory/external reporting;
  • Support the development and maintenance of information, models, and analysis by monitoring and providing information, reports, and examine for trends;
  • Partner with OPG’s service provider to ensure appropriate changes are made to the systems, information or reports, and that changes align with business requirements and specifications;
  • Work as a team to improve the quality of the information in OPG’s HRIS and find solutions to resolve system issues. This includes the development of new and enhancement of existing data cubes, operational data stores and reports; and
  • Provide technical guidance and training to HR on the appropriate use of HRIS and reports.

EDUCATION

  • University Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, and/or equivalent experience.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are seeking an analytical and results-driven technical professional who has the following:

  • Minimum 4 years of progressive experience in a technical / data analytics position. Previous experience in software development, data mining, data analytics, data management, or programming is required;
  • Experience with deep-dive analytics, predictive modeling, machine learning, or algorithms is required;
  • Experience with programming languages such as Java/Python/R;
  • Must have experience working with database MySQL/Oracle/Azure and knowledge of data management and reporting;
  • Experience with SAS, ETL, data processing, data analytics, and database programming;
  • Strong ability to understand various data structures and common methods in data transformation;
  • Proven analytical skills, experience working with large data sets and databases;
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel, Access, and Power BI or equivalent visualization tools;
  • Looking for a team player with strong problem-solving skills and capabilities of also effectively working independently;
  • Ability to communicate effectively, possess excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Strong problem solving and innovative thinking skills, must be able to provide solutions, ideas, and recommendations through effective issue resolution;
  • Broad conceptual, diagnostic, and analytical skills; ability to reach well-grounded, independent conclusions and influence outcomes directly and through a team of resources;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced changing environment while effectively managing and adapting to multiple changing priorities; and
  • Would be an asset to have experience with HR information systems such as SAP, SAP BW, SuccessFactors, etc. but is not required.
