The role

Due to continued growth, our client is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Senior Consultant (Botanist) to join the team and provide technical advice to clients.

The role is responsible for providing specialist ecological interpretation,  project management, and field work. The role collaborates with the team leader ecology, the ecology team, external and internal stakeholders. This position is sought out as a technical expert and managing projects.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Effective and timely liaison with clients, regulators and sub-contractors
  • Mentoring junior staff
  • Internal review and quality control of reports and proposals
  • Internal review and quality control of complex projects requiring significant technical skill and multidisciplinary projects
  • Effective management of project budget within the boundaries of each individual project
  • Contribute to the growth of the business through seeking out and developing client relationships
  • Participate in ecological field assessment and survey

About you

You have extensive experience undertaking ecological survey in NSW and strong working knowledge of relevant NSW and Commonwealth environmental legislation and planning policies. You are recognised by peers as a technical senior in the field of ecology management.

You will possess:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications; in ecology, botany, biology, environmental science, or environmental management related field
  • 6 + years’ practical experience undertaking field-based surveys, data analysis and reporting, preferably in a consulting capacity
  • BAM accreditation or the desire and capacity to become BAM accredited based on your existing experience
  • Experience in preparing ecological reports such as BSSAR’s, BDAR’s and experience with TFD calculations, ecological impact assessments, monitoring reports and management plans
  • Valid drivers license with ability to travel on site
  • Full Australian working rights
