Position Responsibilities/Requirements

JOB SUMMARY:

Conducts various types of research and analysis to support the business operations to an internal business segment, division, group or line of business.  Assists management to resolve business issues in an effective and productive manner. Designs, documents and re-engineers business processes and publishes business metrics results.

Participates in a team made up of members of key disciplines such as Architecture, Quality Assurance,

Development, Business Analysis, and Project Management working on Java based solutions.

The team generally operates as a self-organising team to complete work using Scrum Agile methodology.


Advanced professional role. Highly-skilled with extensive proficiency. Develops large and/or complex solutions that require analysis and research. Works on multiple projects as a project leader or frequently as the subject matter expert. Works on projects/issues of medium to high complexity that require demonstrated knowledge across multiple analytical areas and business segments. Coaches and mentors more junior business systems analysts. Works under minimal supervision on complex projects. Wide latitude for independent judgment. Typically requires six or more years of demonstrated business analysis experience with at least one project as the business analyst lead on a “large” project (i.e., a project with duration of more than 6,000 hours or spanning more than 4 months).

GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform analyses of the business goals, objectives, and needs of the general business environment, division, group or line of business.

  • Performsresearch and analysis to support business operations and presents findings to manager or project leader.

  • Plan and design business processes and make recommendations and changes in order to improve and support business systems and activities and/or to deliver greater effectiveness and efficiency.

  • Utilize systems and data to resolve business issues in the most effective and productive manner.

  • Identify and implemen best practices and suggests how to improve current practices.

  • Calculate/estimate costs and benefits of alternative actions or solutions to establish their viability/ROI.

  • Develop recommendations to solve problems and issues related to business operations.

  • Analyze and document business processes and metrics, and identifies improvement opportunities.

  • Work with Delivery/Project Managers and other team members to prepare requirement specifications, use cases, and other requirements documentation as required.

  • Provide developers with clear and unambiguous requirements specifications to enable them to produce quality software.

  • Assist test analysts to verify the functionality of the system according to requirement specifications.

  • Engage closely and frequently with customers, build an effective working relationships to ensure project success.

  • Ensure that project quality goals are met and that test results are updated in provided tools.

  • Record and track team risks and issues and change logs, ensuring accurate information is maintained. Create risk mitigation strategies as required.

  • Update project information in Wiki and JIRA

  • Establish an effective working relationship with our offshore development centers

  • Liaise with Delivery Managers of associated projects to ensure that dependencies are managed and communicated.

  • May train internal employees on changes to business practices, processes or procedures.

  • May perform special projects upon request and on occasion.

  • May provide coaching and/or guidance to less experienced Business Analysts.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Computer Science, Information Systems or the equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience.

GENERAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of Payments products and services.

  • Knowledge of the business goals, objectives and business operations for the Bank.

  • Knowledge of financial services industry.

  • Knowledge of basic financial analysis principles and ratios.

  • Proficiency in standard office software, such as MS Office, etc.
