You will join our European Policy & Sustainability department

As our new Senior Consultant: EU climate and energy policy you will be part of an open, dynamic and diverse team of consultants who provide consultancy in public policy to the European Institutions and European stakeholder platform. You will join a growing Brussels-based team of 15 consultants who provide policy research, economic analysis, stakeholder engagement and process facilitation in a wide range of policy areas contributing to the sustainable development goals. You will also work continuously with around 300 colleagues involved in our Sustainable Society Transformation division and have access to a large pool of expertise in Ramboll Management Consulting and Ramboll Group throughout Europe and worldwide..

Your key tasks and responsibilities will be:

  • Taking a leading role in the fields of EU climate and energy policy, providing thought leadership on climate neutrality transition, thereby contributing to the strategic vision of Ramboll in these domains at European and international level.
  • Based on your expertise, supporting your colleagues in other areas, such as environment, circular economy, clean mobility, sustainable growth and jobs, urban and regional development, climate adaptation, and just transition.
  • Building relationships with our clients and stakeholders, maintaining our network of partners and experts.
  • Identifying and developing new opportunities, including by coordinating and drafting proposals with members of our team.
  • Being responsible for the management of projects and project teams. Your responsibilities will cover the whole project cycle, from project initiation to completion.
  • Coordinating policy research, consultancy and implementation projects. To this end, you will plan and execute complex data collection activities, stakeholder consultation programmes, facilitation and implementation processes, and analyses spanning multiple countries.
  • Delivering, together with your team members, high quality products and services, including analytical reports, stakeholder events and actionable advises

  • A Master's degree in environmental economics, political ecology and environmental policy, energy and environmental science, or a similar field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant professional work experience in public policy research and consultancy, including proposal development, project management, research, analysis, and advisory.
  • Background and experience in climate and energy transition, including climate diplomacy and governance, land use, land-use change and forestry, decarbonisation of the industry, transport, buildings and agri-food sectors, decarbonisation of the energy systems, renewable energy and alternative energy sources, carbon markets mechanisms, and climate finance; willingness and enthusiasm to work on a wide range of policy issues within these domains is required.
  • In-depth knowledge of the EU strategies and policy instruments (directives, regulations, funding schemes) in these fields, and understanding of the broader sustainability agenda that is shaping them; hands-on experience working on policy studies, evaluations and impact assessments, and policy implementation projects; familiarity with the EU Better Regulation guidelines is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills, including qualitative and quantitative analytical skills, and problem-solving capability; familiarity with dedicated tools and methods such as life cycle assessment, material flow modelling, carbon and energy modelling is a plus.
  • Proven interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and partners.
  • Experience managing projects and teams.
  • Excellent command of English, both written and oral, and fluency in at least one more EU language; fluency in French is a plus.
