KPMG Law brings together multidisciplinary teams with deep local and international experience to work alongside our clients on their complex problems. We offer an extensive range of legal and consulting services to a range of government clients.

KPMG Law’s Canberra practice launched in January 2019 and has already claimed its place as a trusted legal advisory practice across government. The practice is primarily focused on providing high quality ‘end to end’ strategic and legal advice and support to our government clients.

As our team continues to grow, we are seeking high performing lawyers with at least 1 and up to 5 years post admission experience.

As a member of the team, you will work on a range of challenging, cutting-edge, and important work that supports the delivery of services that make a real difference to the lives of Australians, contributes to our post-pandemic economic recovery, and underpins the security of our nation, including, but not limited to:

  • complex legislative and regulatory reform programs to support strategic policy development and implementation;
  • assurance and legal compliance, and the design of policy and systems necessary to discharge legal obligations;
  • commercial and contract matters for large scale procurement activity;
  • governance matters arising from data management, AI and privacy; and
  • introduction of new technologies, enterprise wide transformational programs.

In addition to working with highly respected senior lawyers who work across a variety of legal practice areas, you will work with a range of other specialists and practice groups within the broader KPMG firm.

How are you extraordinary?

To be considered for this opportunity, your qualifications, skills & experience will likely include:

  • an Australian law qualification with between 1 to 5 years of post- qualification experience;
  • previous experience working in or for government;
  • being adaptable and personable, keen to work outside the ‘traditional’ law firm model and collaborate with KPMG’s broader advisory teams; and
  • being intellectually curious, open-minded and analytical, with an eye for detail and pride in your work.

You must also be willing and able to apply for and obtain an Australian Government security clearance.
