About the role:

As the Senior Credit Manager AgriBusiness you will be primarily responsible for the analysis, assessment and decision of AgriBusiness lending proposals. Your focus will ensure the credit risk accepted by the Bank is within Risk Appetite, of an appropriate standard and structure, and that pricing is commensurate with the terms and risk.

You will be required to work closely with our Business partners and will be adept at building and maintaining strong collaborative working relationships. You will also provide coaching and mentoring as needed to promote best-practice risk culture throughout the Bank. Occasional intrastate and interstate travel may be required to fulfill this responsibility.

The role is viewed as integral support to achievement of the Bank’s business strategy outcomes in terms of both quality and growth targets.

Specifically you will;

  • Assess and decision AgriBusiness lending submissions that are within the role's Delegated Approval Authority (DAA)
  • Sponsor and present submissions, which are outside of the role's DAA to higher DAA holders within acceptable time frames
  • Have a national view of the business and partner with the AgriBusiness sales teams to achieve business outcomes
  • Maintain the Bank's loan portfolio at an acceptable level of risk quality through judicious decisioning/structuring and coaching outputs
  • Provide input to pricing in order to achieve acceptable risk-return
  • Develop skills within the AgriBusiness specialised lending segment to provide valuable outcomes to transactions
  • Identify adverse trends/issues to interested stakeholders, as necessary, to enable the Bank to take appropriate remedial actions
  • Identify industry/economic trends and provided recommendations to Credit Risk Policy Team for review of policy or new policy initiatives
  • Foster a “one-team” approach between Sales and Credit Risk through open and empathic communication, including involvement at sales meetings and other forums
  • Coach and mentor other stakeholders, to improve business credit risk assessment and origination skills

Required Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Tertiary Qualifications in Finance, Accounting, Business, Commerce or relevant discipline
  • Experience in a similar role, with particular exposure to the agribusiness and corporate banking customer segments.
  • Exercised significant credit approval authority in a major financial institution.
  • Ability to consider and integrate a broad range of factors in structuring and decisioning proposals, in particular, general credit worthiness, identification and mitigation of risks, assessment of cash flow adequacy and repayment capacity, and sound understanding of property valuation principles..
  • Highly developed communication and consultation skills to all levels of the organisation, including a proven ability to write effective reports, address meetings, facilitate group discussions.
  • Specialised knowledge and experience in the banking club and syndication markets serving the corporate Agri banking segment.
