Purpose and Objectives
The development team for the Business Event Bus in Central Engineering is seeking a committed Senior Developer with experience in developing cloud-based applications. Candidates must have extensive experience designing and developing asynchronous, distributed and scalable software. You must have a passion for software development, participating in an Agile team, creating clean code and documenting your work.

As part of a Central Engineering DX Development Scrum Team you will design, deliver, operate and support the creation of an innovative Business Event Bus Kernel Service for an event distribution capability. The solution is a cloud native, loosely-coupled set of reusable data event services, providing greater resiliency, filtering based on payload, replay of past events and scalable performance.

Your responsibilities
•    Responsible for design, implementation, testing and quality assurance of your code
•    Contribution to test automation to enable continuous integration and delivery
•    Strong ability to collaborate and be part of a team
•    Be an active member of self-empowered Scrum teams producing software using Agile principles and engineering-driven decisions
•    Be technically proactive, influencing the team with innovative and creative ideas
•    Have the flexibility to adapt to technologies and change directions quickly
•    Design and architect elegant, robust and scalable solutions
•    Write clean, tested efficient code that fits well with high standards and quality requirements that will be reviewed regularly by teammates
•    Use Go, Java, Angular, Docker and Git to develop RESTful, clustered services in your everyday job
•    Develop Kubernetes-native Kafka based solutions
•    Interact with open source communities for feature steering and bug fixes
•    Perform and participate in peer code reviews
Your qualifications
•    Experience working in a containerized (e.g., Docker, rkt, etc.) cloud environment 
•    Be technically proactive, influencing the team with innovative and creative ideas
•    Have the flexibility to adapt to technologies and change directions quickly
•    Solid understanding and practice of Agile software development
•    Enjoy working in a collaborative team, fast-paced and highly dynamic work environment
•    Strong knowledge and experience in TDD, design patterns and RESTful Services
•    Willingness to take responsibility and ownership for your work and the team’s work without waiting for detailed instructions
•    Must have a passion for delivering high-quality, fully tested and documented code
•    BA/BS degree in a computer related field (3+ years of degree relevant experience to degree)
•    5+ years of experience with Java programming language or equivalent and writing concurrent, high-volume, transactional code
•    Experience working in an environment with continuous delivery/continuous integration
•    Willingness to continuously learn new technologies and methodologies
•    Strong team-oriented interpersonal skills, including humility and being open to giving and receiving feedback
•    Good verbal and written English

Preferred qualifications
•    Experience with Kubernetes and related service mesh technologies like Istio, Linkerd or Envoy (or)
•    Experience with enterprise application integration and/or data integration
•    Experience developing and operating:

  •     Kafka or other modern messaging technology
  •     Streaming applications
  •     Microservice architectures
  •     Distributed architectures
  •     Services running in a cloud environment (e.g., GCP, AWS, Azure, etc.)
