Background
The landscape for Turner International \(TI\) is currently served by three distinct businesses: Latin America, EMEA, and Asia Pacific\. Although being successful and continuing to grow in an organic and disparate fashion, the business has not effectively leveraged the overall scale of their combined strength\. Initiatives are often considered, approved, and implemented at a regional level, sometimes at the expense of the other regions\.
TI's businesses must operate on a spectrum of being locally relevant while also being able to fulfil global business models and serve global consumer populations\. The functionally aligned Technology and Operations groups are tasked with providing a consolidated supply chain \(consisting of processes and systems\) based on the needs of each region that enables the business to leverage global scale while remaining locally relevant\.
The International Portfolio Management Office has been created to help the businesses optimise existing operations and to meet the process/systems needs of emerging revenue streams by working directly with them, TI Technology, and TI Operations\.
Primary purpose of position
This position manages the TI portfolio of initiatives, oversees global deployments, maintains strategic roadmaps, and reports a singular holistic view of the change initiatives that are in progress at any given moment across TI\. This is a highly visible position working with senior executives across all functions while reporting to the Senior Vice President of Operations, DV&I\. It is imperative that the successful candidate has the ability to work with the many departments that make up the businesses across the international landscape\. He/she must also be a seasoned leader capable of coordinating with both Technology and Operations while leading the regional project management offices and the Business Process Improvement teams that make up the department\. By providing a singular view of the projects landscape across all international regions and managing the governance structure for intake of new initiatives/management of existing ones, this role facilitates strategic alignment, provides a common platform for communication and cross pollination of ideas, and enables the business to leverage global scale\.
Essential job functions
Portfolio Management
+ Maintain the on\-going portfolio of projects helping to ensure that it is meeting the strategic direction of Turner International as set by the executive management, project sponsors, and executive steerco groups
+ Create a collaborative partnership among executive leaders and portfolio stakeholders and enable resource demand planning, change management, and project pipeline planning decisions
Project Sequencing and Loading
+ Ensure the project sequencing is consistent with overall strategy as well as operational and technical needs and specifications
+ Advise of changes and variations due to delivery timing changes, advise and manage third party \(Out\-Source\) expectations and needs\.
+ Advise management and stakeholders on loading and capacity of projects and advise on how new projects will fit in to existing plans
+ Influencing an organization to make decisions on which projects to undertake through the greenlight process and ensuring proper business cases are submitted as part of the process
Program Project Definition, Plan and Execution
+ For all projects managed by the team ensure that project definitions, charters etc\. are all in place
+ For projects under direct management create detailed project plans and manage the execution of the plans to a successful conclusion ensuring that the gaps between projects but still within the programs are managed and brought within the projects
Stakeholder and Participant management
+ Liaison between stakeholders, operating and technology teams \(including third party outsourcers\) ensuring that all parties have the information needed to be able to do their jobs, make effective, data\-driven decisions
Strategy, Benefits and Reporting
+ Create and maintain data gathering and reporting mechanisms to facilitate the organisational learning cycle
+ Foster a culture of fact\-based decision making and cause\-effect analysis that focuses on getting better every day
+ Maintain project roadmaps and investigate internal/external influences that should be considered when setting the program agenda
+ Maintain and use communication channels with local groups to keep all parties informed and aligned
+ Prepare periodic presentations and consistent reporting for distribution to all interested parties which will demonstrate the effectiveness of the initiatives undertaken including but not limited to overall projects in progress, project pipeline, portfolio financials, portfolio resourcing, and post\-delivery feedback
Governance and Co\-ordination
+ Provide discipline and structural practices to guide the program with leadership, oversight and control ensuring that standards and practices as set by Turner and good practice are applied consistently and in executing the program effort
+ Facilitate the governance and project status review meetings; identify and quantify variances, complete any required corrective actions, and communicate to all stakeholders
Team and Personal Development
+ Engage in activities that help identify and address areas for team/personal growth within the context of a corporate environment\. This includes the use of external and internal resources that increase the value of the individual to the organisation
Person specification
+ Must have a track record of successfully delivering business change and improvement projects
+ Project prioritisation skills are essential
+ Adept at resource estimation and management
+ Strong budgeting, financial tracking and reporting skills required
+ Risk mitigation skills are essential
+ Must be experienced at facilitation in governance, project reviews, steering and other project related meetings
+ Demonstrated understanding of business process analysis is required
+ Ability to express concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing to varied audiences
+ Familiarity with SharePoint, Visio, Microsoft Project or other project management tools is expected
+ Superior customer service skills are required
+ Must be able to demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills to all levels within the company
+ Demonstrated ability to multi\-task and manage priorities is essential
+ Effective problem\-solving and analytical skills required
+ Strong meeting facilitation and presentation skills
+ Ability to utilize leadership position to effectively drive change and influence others
+ Must possess strong project management skills
+ Business and technical experience in the broadcast industry would be an advantage
+ Vendor management experience is preferable
+ Experience working in a Project Management Office environment is desirable
+ Knowledge of vendors and technologies in Broadcast would be an advantage
+ Understanding of the Systems Development Life Cycle \(SDLC\) is desirable
+ Degree in Communications, Business Administration, Management or equivalent years of related experience required
