Job Details

Our software team is not only bringing our innovative laboratory instruments to live, but also focuses on improving the experience of our users in labs through a team effort. We mainly work with C#, WPF, .NET / .NET Core, and Python. In addition to our software for controlling our laboratory equipment, we are working on many exciting topics like image processing and AI/ML. At cytena, you will be the expert when it comes to developing software for embedded systems / single-board computers to control our innovative laboratory instruments. You choose the right technology stack to efficiently implement the required functionalities based on product specifications. You will also work closely with our Product Managers to develop interfaces for robotic arms and laboratory automation.


Qualifications

  • 3+ years professional experience
  • Very good knowledge and experience in C# or C++ and Linux
  • Experience with hardware-related programming (controlling cameras, valves, motors, pumps, etc.)
  • Good communication skills in English
  • Strong problem-solving skills, and ability to troubleshoot at the interface of software, hardware, and electronics.  


Responsibilities

  • Choose the right language, architecture and hardware for the embedded / single-board computer of a new laboratory instrument that we will develop
  • Design and develop and test software for controlling innovative laboratory instruments
  • Bringing exciting new prototypes to life and working in close collaboration with our electronics/mechanical engineers, application team, and product managers  
  • Work with the software teams to continuously improve development practices and processes
  • Work independently in dedicated and highly passionate interdisciplinary project teams 


This position requires working in our offices & labs in Freiburg (remote work to some extend is possible). For this position we can offer fulltime or a part-time (60-80 %) contract.
